The Water Magician

Chapter 227: 0213: Final Chapter - Prologue 📖

Published: July 3, 2025

The final chapter is now opening.

Today, there will be two posts.

At noon, the interlude "0212" will be posted.

In the northern part of the Naitorei Kingdom, in the Count Gorter Territory.

A large-scale demonstration was taking place in the central square of the capital city, Goya.

"Give us food, huh?"

As he watched the demonstration, a swordsman who appeared to be an adventurer muttered while looking out the window from the second floor of an inn.

"You're lucky we got picked up by the marquis."

A man who seemed to be a mage said while sitting in a chair.

The priest-like man sitting next to him nodded repeatedly at those words.

"That's true. Thank Ilalion for that. By the way, where are Oriana and Aizeiya?"

The swordsman took out a pocket watch and checked it while looking towards the door.

"Hector, you're worrying too much. Those two will be fine."

The moment the mage said that, the door opened, and the two came in.

"Hector, we have the instructions!"

Oriana, the scout, handed the instructions to party leader Hector.

"Really?!"

Hector's expression brightened as he received the instructions.

He then read it over.

The four party members waited for Hector's words.

Then, Hector read aloud the instructions.

"Return to the royal capital."

"Yes!"

The four exploded with joy.

The spear warrior Aizeiya made several victory poses, while the mage Kenji and the priest Tarlow embraced each other.

They were part of the former c-rank party "Morning Star" affiliated with the royal capital.

Previously, they had tried to abduct Abel before the royal capital turmoil.

Afterward, they got caught up in an explosion meant to cover up the evidence and went missing, but they were actually protected by Ilalion Baraha and had since become stationed adventurers under the House of Heinlein.

For now, their survival was kept hidden due to the ongoing power struggles within the Royal Castle.

Thus, their current mission was not processed through the adventurers' guild and would not earn them any points, but they were receiving a significant bonus reward from the House of Heinlein, satisfying all five of them.

However, the month-long investigation in the Count Gorter Territory was not particularly enjoyable, and it was also true that the youth were starting to miss the splendor of the royal capital.

"Father, the 'Morning Star' has left the capital city of Goya and is heading to the royal capital."

In Acre, Marquisate of Heinlein.

Phelps reported to his father, Marquis Alexis Heinlein.

"Good work. Once you reach the royal capital, will you turn it over to Count Lawrence for internal investigation?"

"No, that person is very sharp, so we'll continue the internal investigation with dedicated professionals. The Morning Star will serve as a reserve force at the 'Ilalion Mansion.'"

Count Harold Lawrence... the current Minister of Internal Affairs.

Among the ministers, he was regarded as the youngest and most capable, and this assessment was unanimous.

However, if such an outstanding individual were to betray them...

(To be honest, this country is already...)

Alexis thought, but he barely managed to keep those words from escaping his mouth.

He shook his head repeatedly.

Just ten years ago, his homeland, the Naitorei Kingdom, should have been at the height of prosperity...

Why had it come to such a state?

Was it a mistake for him to resign from the position of knight commander and return to his territory?

Should he have appointed Arthur Velasis as the head of the magical association instead of merely an advisor?

Once he started thinking, countless past actions flooded back, causing him distress.

However, it was too late to change anything now.

For the sake of his son Phelps and his generation, as well as the next, he must do everything he could to leave behind a good country!

That was the resolve of Alexis Heinlein.
