Chapter 188: Fion Defense Battle ⚔️

Published: July 3, 2025

The City of Fion is located in the center of a basin.

Surrounded by mountains over a hundred meters tall to the east and west, and with the mountain of demons to the south, the only area where a large army can maneuver is to the north of the basin.

The northern side is squeezed by the mountains on both sides, creating a narrow pass.

It's as if the area is pinched at the neck, resembling a gourd waist that tightens, then expands after a while when you move north.

It is certainly a land that is difficult to attack but easy to defend.

"Enemy attack!"

A soldier from the observation tower shouted, and the bells began to toll.

The sound of the bells echoed throughout the entire City of Fion.

For military leaders, including Duke of Inberri Loris, this was not unexpected.

While it wasn't something they had not anticipated, hearing that a large army was attacking would cause tension for anyone.

The military leaders were exposed to that tension.

"Activate 'Greenstorm.'"

The instructions from Captain Meredith echoed in the central command of Fion.

At the same time, Duke of Inberri Loris and Knight Commander Stanley arrived at the command center.

"What is the enemy's status?"

"They are currently to the north of the narrow pass, cavalry unit. At this speed, they'll be within range in one minute."

In response to Knight Commander Stanley's question, Captain Meredith replied.

Captain Meredith… he once served as the deputy commander of the public capital defense in the Capital City of Aberdeen.

Under the orders of Captain Nigel, he successfully transported two wind magic stones for Greenstorm from the capital when it fell, delivering them safely to the City of Fion.

It was only natural that he was later appointed as the defense captain of this City of Fion and responsible for the operation of Greenstorm.

"Alright. We'll lure them in to some extent before sweeping them away with a dispersion attack."

The Knight Commander's orders were given.

While Captain Meredith was indeed responsible for Greenstorm, the actual operational decisions were made by individuals higher up the chain.

For example, in this case, by the Knight Commander himself.

Meredith had very little authority, but having witnessed the fall of the capital, he could not remain silent.

"Knight Commander, isn't it dangerous to lure them in too much?"

"I understand your concerns. However, if we take down a few enemies and they hesitate to enter, we won't be able to effectively utilize this weapon."

What the Knight Commander said was indeed reasonable.

Given the considerable difference in fighting power, any chance of turning the tide depended on the effective use of Greenstorm… it might be inevitable.

However, in reality, neither of their fears came to pass.

The allied forces stopped just at the edge of the narrow pass and the basin, right at the limit of their range.

Then, the allied forces split to the left and right, and something "whole" slowly emerged.

"An artificial golem..."

Knight Commander Stanley squeezed out the words.

He had received reports.

In the capital, the concentrated fire of Greenstorm had been ineffective.

"Meredith!"

Duke of Inberri Loris looked at Captain Meredith and spoke.

Loris understood what he was getting at.

"Your Grace, that is it. That entity was not affected by Greenstorm."

Meredith sadly reiterated the painful truth that he had to convey.

Of course, this had already been reported in their return, but it was still a confirmation.

"Stanley, what will we do?"

Loris looked at Knight Commander Stanley.

Stanley was the one in charge on the scene.

Stanley himself understood this and, while grimacing, knew he had to make some proposal.

"If we know that Greenstorm is ineffective, we have no choice but to charge."

"Will that work?"

"I don't know, but if the knight order charges with everything on the line in this decisive battle, perhaps..."

To be honest, Stanley wasn't sure how well it would go.

However, there was no other way.

"Understood. Stanley, I leave it to you."

When Duke of Inberri Loris said that, Knight Commander Stanley bowed and left the central command to lead the knight order himself.
