The Water Magician

Chapter 130: 0119 Ilalion 🌌

Abel had noticed that he was being followed from the moment he parted ways with the three outside the tavern "Drowning in Alcohol."

(I don't mind being followed, but... I wonder if those three will be okay?)

He was worried about the three who had just separated from him.

Kenneth was being escorted back to the alchemy workshop by the other two...

(I don't think they would dare to harm a "baron.")

The alchemist Kenneth Hayward was a proper nobleman holding a baronial title.

Attacking a noble would attract extremely severe punishment.

Thinking that way, the likelihood of an attack seemed low.

The other two... would probably figure something out.

Abel wasn't thinking too seriously about it.

The three he was probing were the knight commander Warren, the chief steward Sorel, and Treasurer Fuka.

Could they be associates of one of them?

Three people were following him.

(There were supposed to be five at first, so two of them went that way. With three here, it seems I'm the target after all.)

Abel veered off from the main street and entered further into the back alleys.

This area was one he had played around in since he was young, and even after almost ten years, his body remembered the paths.

A few minutes later...

Using the shadows of the alleys and a dilapidated door that just happened to be in the way, Abel successfully incapacitated the three without taking a scratch.

By the way, the group consisted of two men and one woman.

"Now then..."

Abel said as he whistled and waited for a moment.

Within a minute, a large shadow approached.

"Sorry, Warren, but can you help me carry these?"

Warren nodded and hoisted the two men onto his shoulders.

Abel then picked up the remaining woman.

After turning twice in the alleys, they arrived in front of the "Kingdom Magic Research Institute," also known as the "Ilalion Mansion."

"Let's take them to the underground laboratory and interrogate them."

Abel said with a smirk.

One of the men woke up.

He found himself in a vast space, seated in a chair.

His hands and feet were tied to the chair, making it impossible for him to move.

"Damn it."

He had been following Abel.

But suddenly, out of nowhere, his target appeared from behind and knocked him unconscious in one blow.

"I didn’t hear anything about such a skilled person."

But it was too late to say that now.

Three had attacked and taken one.

To be honest, he thought they would have an easy time of it.

The only problem was the means of transporting the captured man...

But reality was different.

"What am I supposed to do now...?"

"If you confess everything, it will be easier for you."

Unexpectedly, a response came to his muttering.

Hearing that voice, he was startled.

There didn't seem to be anyone else around.

And the voice he heard wasn't from the young man who was supposed to be attacking him, but from an old man instead.

The old man, presumably the owner of the voice, approached, coming within recognition distance.

"No way... Ilalion..."

The moment the man whispered, the old man closed the distance in an instant and lightly tapped the man's head with his cane.

"Ow!"

"Don’t forget to add 'sir' when you address me. It’s 'Sir Ilalion.' Really, the younger generation has no manners."

Ilalion's anger was such that it made one want to add sound effects to his outburst.

Seeing this, the man fell into a daze once more.

Then he whispered, "Why is such a big shot here...?"

Ilalion Baraha.

The chief court mage of the Naitorei Kingdom.

When referring to "the kingdom's powerful mages," Ilalion Baraha is likely to be the first name mentioned.

However, since he rarely appears in public, not many knew his face.

But this man, who was being interrogated, recognized Ilalion the moment he saw his face.

"Hmm. So you realize I’m a big shot. The person you were trying to attack has close ties with that big shot. I won’t say it again; you should spill everything you know."

Ilalion exaggeratedly tapped his palm with his cane.

"Damn... I can’t betray my client!"

The man turned his head away and shut his mouth.

"Hmm... even knowing I’m Ilalion, you still have that attitude? You’re underestimating magic, are you not?"
