From here begins Part Two, and the serialization resumes.
I will continue regularly for half a year, so please support me!
Almeria Province, eastern region, Belossos Plain.
This land, famed since ancient times as the site of many decisive battles, was about to witness another fierce confrontation.
The frontline forces numbered 5,000 on each side, and from horseback I could see the enemy soldiers' equipment was of exceptionally high quality, and their morale appeared equally strong.
“Your Majesty! The enemy forces are on the move!”
“Hmm.”
Mounted atop a white horse adorned in splendid attire, I nodded.
As the soldiers had reported, the enemy surged forward, kicking up clouds of dust.
The stamping of 5,000 feet shook the earth, and their battle cries surged forward like a massive wall.
“...Gulp.”
I heard someone among the soldiers nearby swallow hard.
I glanced at the soldier behind me.
There was no sign of fear or dread, but the tension was clearly visible on their faces.
If so, first things first.
Let's shake off that tension!
“Leviathan.”
I raised my hand and summoned Leviathan.
The demonic sword Leviathan appeared with overwhelming presence, a symbol of power manifesting in my bare hand.
A different kind of emotion began to spread among the soldiers.
“Strike first. Can you do it?”
“As you wish.”
Leviathan responded in a strong yet obedient voice.
Leviathan, embodying both the ferocity of a mad dog and the loyalty of a faithful hound, has never once questioned my orders nor claimed anything impossible.
And now, it agreed at once.
“...”
Silently, I raised Leviathan above my head, gripping its hilt tightly with both hands, readying myself.
Then, with the ferocity of a great beast, I brought Leviathan crashing down upon the onrushing enemy forces.
Casually, yet with full strength.
As Leviathan’s blade descended, it unleashed a massive wave of sword energy.
The energy took the shape of a crescent moon and shot toward the enemy.
A gigantic crescent flew through the air.
The enemy, possessing the momentum of a beast, was large and could not stop quickly.
The crescent-shaped sword energy collided with the frontline and exploded.
The soldiers in the first row were bisected along with their armor, screams echoing as a flood of fresh blood sprayed forth.
The relentless sword energy gouged the earth, raising a dust cloud and causing a massive explosion.
The dust mixed with blood and screams, engulfing the enemy formation, which broke apart, their momentum completely halted.
“““Ooooooooh!!!”””
My own troops, witnessing my strike, erupted prematurely into cheers of victory.
To keep their spirits high, I immediately thrust Leviathan toward the sky.
“All units, charge!”
At my command, the highly trained Imperial soldiers, emboldened by my strike, charged the enemy with unprecedented vigor.
Some were broken in momentum, others gained speed.
From the front to the rear, I surveyed the battle unfolding overwhelmingly in our favor.
“Am-Amazing.”
An excited voice came from the side; I turned my gaze.
After the whole army charged, only a small group of fewer than 100 men remained around me, the emperor.
This unit was mostly composed of young soldiers, all gazing at me with admiration in their eyes.
“That’s the legendary demonic sword.”
“It’s my first time seeing it up close.”
“Such incredible power... amazing.”
Perhaps their role was to protect me now that the frontline had engaged.
The young soldiers, who until moments ago had been tense, now showed no trace of nervousness.
Had I been too forceful in dispelling their tension?
I shrugged, still holding Leviathan.
I eyed the smoothly advancing frontline and continued to oversee the battle.
☆
Evening.
Since the enemy forces had been routed, I gave orders to conduct a moderate pursuit and then withdrew to the camp.
Perhaps because the news of our advantage had already spread, the soldiers remaining in camp greeted me and the small force of fewer than 100 with cheers.
I accepted their greeting calmly and returned to my tent.
