My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's

Chapter 6: Baka Hero 🤦‍♂️

Published: March 21, 2026

I made the mistake of writing past midnight.

When I was on Earth, I couldn't stop wanting the rare experience of being summoned to another world. At first I enjoyed it, sure, but now—how to put it—I'm starting to miss my peaceful, boring hometown.

We were summoned, yet for some reason my stats are stronger than the hero's. Because of that I have to hide my existence, the king and princess are plotting something, my classmates are carefree, and the hero's a narcissistic idiot...

Ah, I want to go home.

I played spy games late into the night and lost a lot of sleep, and on top of that I had a strange dream, so I woke up in a foul mood and chewed on the bland breakfast with a sour expression. The weird dream was about the demon king from the kitchen, G, enlarging and chasing me forever. Waking up felt like a real relief.

"......."

My classmates were chattering away and eating breakfast, unaware that our lives are currently being threatened. I felt a twinge of murderous intent toward them. How can they stay so calm?

After I returned to my room yesterday I half-thought about it: I could just ignore the king and the princess's scheme and slip out of the castle alone. If I truly didn't care about my classmates, I probably would have escaped last night. The only reason I didn't was that I still had some affection left for people from my hometown.

But it pains me to just watch my classmates fall into the king and princess's trap without knowing anything. There has to be some way to throw a wrench into their plans.

"Everyone, listen!"

The hero waited until everyone finished their food, then spoke. The noisy breakfast suddenly fell silent. Apparently the whole class recognizes the hero as their leader. Everyone but me.

"I was surprised by being summoned to another world yesterday and didn't think deeply about it at the time, but I believe we should reach a consensus."

Oh, the hero is being serious. How rare. He's usually only interested in how many girls look at him, so I never expected him—surrounded only by classmates who are girls—to try to take leadership. That title of "hero" must mean a lot to him.

And I had a bad feeling.

"We're strong. Probably the people of this world can't stand against us. If we want, we could use this power to conquer the world."

What is this idiot hero talking about? The maids who had been serving us with smiles froze. If the person who was supposed to save them says something like that—even as a joke—they'd be worried. We're currently missing the single most important information needed to act. My classmates are taking that far too lightly.

I shouted that in my head, but I couldn't help listening to the idiot hero's speech, staying hidden and silent.

"...But we haven't forgotten our pride as Japanese!! I think a good trait of Japanese people is helping strangers without expecting anything in return. I want to use this power to help the people of this world. ...Won't you help me defeat the demon king?"

They really understand nothing. What if the information that the demon king is ravaging human territories is itself a lie? Why assume the king and princess are absolutely on our side?

From the way the king and princess live, they don't seem all that troubled. Even this breakfast, though bland, has four side dishes in addition to the main bread. At my house there were only two.

"I'll follow you, Commander!!"

"Me too! Please let me come!!!"

"Me too, me too!"

"M-me too!"

Ah, the number of victims of the hero's rampage keeps growing. In the end, everyone in the class except me sided with the idiot hero.

I stayed hidden. No way I'm getting dragged into this.

"...Everyone... Then, let's do our best to save the people of this world!!!"

"「「「Ooooooooo!!!!」」」"

This is getting really annoying. I put my elbows on the desk and sighed deeply. I can't fit into this whole "youthful" atmosphere no matter what, and I don't like it.

Can I just abandon these guys and enjoy a happy life alone? I don't want to be the one to leave, though—being exiled by classmates like in those common summoned-to-another-world novels would be ideal. It would be a perfect justification to get out of the castle.
