Akira and Amelia are moving—!!! Amazing!!! I’m so happy!!!

Until yesterday, Morte had only ever been visited at night, but today I set foot there for the first time with the sun high in the sky. The backside of Morte—until yesterday there had been humans, alive and dead, piled up among the Demon Clan, but now there was nothing. Even the scorch marks Kyousuke made yesterday were gone. As if nothing had happened. Yet we all know that many people died here. Knowing that horror, none of us can ever forget that sight.

Still, even if nothing is here now, in a few weeks or years that scene will likely return. If we do nothing, yesterday’s actions will amount to nothing but hypocrisy. But what can we do? We’re anomalies in this world. We have places to return to. Worse, I hate that part of me that thinks, “If we hadn’t helped, it would’ve saved us a lot of trouble.”

Today with me are Yoru, LatticeNail, the hero, Kyousuke — four people and one animal. Perhaps because there are no Beastmen in our party, the commercial district of Morte is busier in the daytime, but we were able to move through it without drawing attention. Maybe because the Adventurer Guild is nearby, our appearances weren’t strange. Speaking of which, what does an Adventurer Guild in the Demon Clan, where demons can command monsters, even do? Isn’t wearing heavy armor overkill for the mundane chores I used to do aiming for yellow rank in Uru?

We went down to the basement we’d grown used to over the past three days, and Sena flashed a grin and welcomed us in.

“Oh! You’re here!”

“Yeah. Are you ready to depart?”

“Perfectly ready~”

After yesterday, it seemed everything had been moved out—the basement was completely empty. The shelves that once held alcohol around the room were gone, making the space feel larger. Even the table and the single-person sofa were gone. I noticed faint remnants of magic at the four corners of the room—likely the big furniture had been moved by magic. The bottles inside the shelves were fragile and must have been carried out separately, but at least in this world, the Demon Clan doesn’t need moving companies. I envy not having to deal with that tedious work.

The master wasn’t drinking in broad daylight—he stood smoking a cigarette. Ringa and Sonora were in a corner, fumbling through sacks large enough to require both hands. Since they’d been on the run, they didn’t have much luggage.

“We sent the furniture to the relocation site, sorry you have to stand.”

“No problem. Let’s finish this quickly.”

In exchange for helping Ringa and the others escape the Volcano Continent, we’d been given information. That was the deal. I didn’t want to keep returning to a dangerous, trapped basement any more than necessary.

“First, check this for the back entrance to the Demon King’s Castle. Based on info from Sonora, I drew a map from here. I also sketched the interior layout of the castle—use it as you like.”

I took the paper the master pulled from his pocket.

The first sheet, on sturdy paper probably made from monster hide, had directions from here to the Demon King’s Castle back entrance; the second contained information about the castle interior. If Sonora, who had worked at the Demon King’s Castle until recently, provided the info, it was probably reliable. Cross-referencing with Crow’s info makes it even more trustworthy. Better to strike while the iron is hot.

Apparently Sonora herself had intended to join them, but her brothers stopped her. Even with exceptional magical power, Sonora’s profession level was only 20. Since we aren’t sure we could protect her, Ringa and Sena’s decision was sensible. Even without that, I understood a brother not wanting to let his sister face danger.
