This time it’s a bit longer!
“Right now the Demon King’s attention is elsewhere, but it’s only a matter of time before the ten demon lords’ council finds Sonora and deems her magical power dangerous. That’s why we want asylum in another race’s territory while we can.”
Unaware I’d been lost in thoughts about matters that didn’t concern me, I switched my mind back to the conversation. This was about the three of them. I tucked the unease I felt into a corner of my mind so I wouldn’t forget it, and lifted my face.
Having a large amount of magical power means that if it runs wild it could cause enormous damage to those around you. From the Demon Clan’s perspective—who once had half the land and the civilizations on it wiped out by the first generation hero—no matter how much the skill ‘magical power control’ exists, Sonora is essentially a bomb whose detonation time is unknown. If her magical capacity becomes known, they might dispose of her as a dangerous element. To avoid that, the three of them wanted to defect to another continent.
The reason the Demon King’s attention was elsewhere was probably because he was focused on reviving his wife. Even for the Demon King, having dangerous elements in the territories he rules would be something to avoid, so for him to prioritize revival that much—either he’s pouring that much effort into revival, or Sonora and the others are exceptionally good at hiding. For now, it seemed the Demon King hadn’t become aware of Sonora’s magical capacity. However, when one of the ten demon lords previously asked about her magical power, she’d been forced to lie—and that lie was uncovered because Darion, who can read minds and happened to be nearby, overheard. Since then they’d been fleeing across the continent so as not to be found.
I kept my head working so I wouldn’t miss any information they brought. I wanted something sweet. This place had alcohol and snacks, but not a single sweet treat.
“Well, if the skill level of ‘magical power control’ is that high, it might indeed be difficult for her power to run wild even if she has a lot of it.”
I muttered as I absentmindedly stared at Sonora’s status board. If her skill levels had increased without her job level rising, she must have raised them through other means. Job levels don’t rise without killing monsters or earning experience, and magical capacity doesn’t increase either. She must have been carefully raising the level of ‘magical power control’ like that.
I understood why Sonora wanted to defect. But why—and by what means—were Ringa and Sena, who should be able to reach other races, coming along?
Sena was a regular adventurer, so that made sense, but Ringa, who was the guild master of Uru’s Guild, should, for work reasons, be mostly in Beastmen territory. How did that work?
“That’s Sena’s doing. Sena has an extra skill called ‘instant memory.’ If something passes through his sight even for a moment, no matter how small, he remembers it vividly. With that skill he copied the magic circle Mahiro Uno used for movement exactly. We don’t know the details of the magic circle, so for safety we only used it to traverse between the Demon Clan territory and Beastmen territory.”
I shifted my gaze from Sonora’s status board to Sena.

Extra Skill: Instant Memory
――――――――――――――――――――
I confirmed that 'instant memory' was indeed listed among Sena’s extra skills and nodded. Calling it “just a skill” was probably cautionary. Extra skills are rare. From Morté’s ordinary people’s status boards, it seemed even in this place where Demons live they’re uncommon.
Mahiro’s magic circle is composed of ancient characters—letters used long ago. These are also used in the extra skill ‘reversal’ that Crow obtained; when people try to understand those letters or words they emit magical power intense enough to break minds. That’s why Crow’s former disciples all went mad.
