My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero's

Chapter 134: Episode 133 - The Water Country 💧

Published: March 21, 2026

Exactly two weeks after parting with the heroes, we arrived in Uruk.

We'd been delayed from our original schedule because Crow had been teaching Amelia the basics of the first generation hero's technique, the extra skill 'reversal', as we walked.

Even for me, who has the extra skill 'language comprehension', the material was difficult, but it was educational.

Well, I wasn't listening while doing chores, so I couldn't fully understand it.

By the way, Amelia apparently used magic creation to make the skill 'comprehension' so she could keep up with the conversation.

It's not as万能 as 'language comprehension', but it's convenient when listening to abstruse explanations.

Maybe because he used to be a teacher, Crow is good at instructing.

Still, commander Saran is the better teacher overall.

"Alright, we're here. Uruk, the Water Country."

Amelia and I cheered.

There were other tourists nearby making similar exclamations, so we didn't stand out.

But the city was even more wonderful than I'd imagined.

Canals ran between the buildings, and boats ferried people back and forth.

The canals were so wide that each boat looked small; there was virtually no chance of collisions.

Buildings were largely covered in plant greenery, making you really feel like you were inside nature.

The canal water was a pale blue and so clear you could see the bottom.

I could probably stare at this view all day.

Crow glanced at our cheers, then turned on his heel.

"As planned, I'll go secure lodgings. You two can sightsee. The rendezvous with Ria is in front of the central fountain in town. Be there before sunset and I'll send someone to pick you up. If you're not there, you'll be sleeping outdoors."

He said that and left briskly.

Who just leaves acquaintances when arriving somewhere for the first time?

"Well, whatever. Let's go on a date, Amelia."

"A date?"

I offered my hand, and Amelia hesitantly took it.

"Yeah. I'll indulge whatever you want. It's a reward for working so hard these past two weeks."

When I said that, Amelia blushed and happily walked beside me.

"It's the first time anyone's given me a reward."

She murmured it, and I smiled.

Amelia is of the Elf race's royal family; studying and striving had probably always been normal for her.

Knowing how earnest she is, she must have pushed herself for her people even when others told her to stop.

And with her parent being the current king, she probably never received rewards for trying hard.

"I'm glad I'm the first, above all. …Anyway, we should at least find the meeting spot with Ria."

If this is called a major nation, it should be fairly large.

I thought someone could have told us a simple route.

When you don't know left from right, you can't be expected to know where the center is.

"Akira, I want to eat that."

"Yeah. I was thinking the same."

What drew Amelia and me was a shop emitting an irresistible aroma.

The smell was similar to grilled seafood like shrimp or crab.

But it didn't seem to be shrimp or crab.

"Old man, give us two of those. And do you know which way the central fountain is?"

"Ah! Thanks as always!! The central fountain's straight that way, brother."

We thanked the friendly shopkeeper and walked while eating.

They looked like skewers, but tasted like grilled fish.

And the smell was like shrimp.

A strange food.

By the way, this skewer is called scallop.

Isn't that a bit mixed-up?

"Is it good?"

"Yeah. Oh, let's try that next?"

Even though I said I'd indulge her whims on our date, it turned into the usual food-walking tour.

I kind of expected that.

"Akira, there's something that looks delicious over here too!"

Even as we moved by boat, we kept making detours and barely made progress.

Isn't Ria supposed to be the princess of Uruk?

Even though there's a princess here, isn't it rude to keep her waiting?

"Akira, over here, over here!"

But faced with an excited Amelia, I couldn't bring myself to be strict, and we kept detouring.

Well, lately we've had far less time alone together compared to when we were exploring the labyrinth, and we hadn't been sharing information.
