“Hmm, according to the Ancient Mirror, the treasure of the Great Universe Divine Mountain is regrettably only a secondary artifact and not the true item from back then. The real Zhaogujing illuminates billions of mountains and rivers, containing the cycle of life and death, able to transform flesh into bone.”
That ancient voice echoed once more, extremely weak, its tone calm and composed.
However, upon hearing this mysterious voice, the Nine Universe Venerable felt a chill for the first time.
Because the ancient mirror in his hand was indeed a secondary artifact, not the genuine article. The genuine article was a treasure of the Great Universe Divine Mountain, held by the Mountain Lord. How could it possibly fall into his hands?
What he held was merely an ordinary secondary artifact for Venerables.
Yet, this matter was a secret of their Great Universe Divine Mountain, one that few in the outside world knew, for the real Zhaogujing had not been used in billions of years. It had only been activated during the ancient battles between top experts of various races, and later, during the battle between humans and demons, it suffered damage and has remained sealed for many years, recuperating.
Even the present Yeguang Venerable and others were unaware of such secrets, yet this person had revealed them.
This left him horrified.
Was the other party exaggerating? Did he merely hear of the Zhaogujing casually, or had he truly seen it and thus understood?
If it was the latter, it was terrifying, for the opportunities to witness the Zhaogujing were rare, only during battles of top experts would it be activated. Those who had indeed seen the Zhaogujing were all figures from the ancient times, the most illustrious giants of the Heavenly Realm.
How could such figures be sealed here, silent for billions of years?
He vaguely felt that he had overlooked something.
Beside him, the Destroying Star Venerable was also anxious, recalling the message from the palace. That message had informed him that after the Star Lord commanded him to come here, he must act cautiously, not to easily offend the beings of this place. If there were any abnormalities, he was to retreat and not be greedy for treasures here. Remembering this now sent chills down his spine.
“Predecessor, we meant no disturbance and will take our leave first.”
After speaking, the Destroying Star Venerable turned and left, his body breaking through the void to return to the Burial Sword Abyss.
They weren't leaving directly; rather, they wanted to first extricate themselves from this abyss before making any decisions.
Although that voice was weak, ancient, and unremarkable, it still sent shivers down their spines, raising all the hair on their bodies.
“Since you have come, why the hurry to leave? You are all the current top experts of the human race. Your predecessors have made great contributions to the Heavenly Realm, and hearing your earlier words, you are also willing to shed blood for our human race. Since you have arrived at my Tongtian Sword Pavilion's Burial Sword Abyss, it means you are fated with me. Come in for a chat.”
That voice echoed eerily, causing several Venerables to shudder. Regret filled their hearts as they realized they had wasted too much time here, unexpectedly awakening this person. Although they knew this person was likely in a state of Nirvana, merely a ghostly presence, they still feared the possibility of great changes.
Boom! They retreated faster than anyone else, firmly believing that as long as they left the Burial Sword Abyss, nothing would happen. They could further test things outside and make their final decision then.
However, the result left them cold all over, as if a bucket of cold water had been poured over them from head to toe, trembling in fear. They kept retreating but found themselves remaining in place; no, they were actually moving deeper into the abyss, falling into its depths.
How could this be possible?
They roared, exerting the power of their Venerable status, completely losing their composure. No longer calm and collected, they were overwhelmed by fear.
