"Now I understand," Ji Ruri and the others said in realization.
Qin Chen smirked coldly; the claim about harming the body was clearly Ji family's excuse to prevent them from being possessed.
However, despite his cold laughter, Qin Chen couldn't help but feel relieved.
It seemed that the Ji family wasn't entirely heartless, allowing everyone to be possessed by the Demon Tribe.
At the very least, direct descendants like Ji Ruri wouldn't be in danger. This meant that Ji Yue hadn't been possessed either.
Thinking about it, at least the Ji Daoyuan and Ji Daoling he saw in the outside world hadn't been possessed. If the Ji family really knew everything about the Demon Tribe, how could they willingly let their children be taken?
If it came to that, the entire Ji family would have become the Demon Tribe's stronghold.
"Everyone, please return to your rooms and rest. Use this time to absorb the Blood Crystal and strive to adjust to your best state," the Grand Elder instructed.
"Grand Elder, what about Ji Yue? Is she staying here too?" Qin Chen stepped forward, eager to see Ji Yue.
"Don't be in such a hurry to see Ji Yue. She is the top talent of the Ji family and resides in another place. Once you undergo the baptism, I will naturally take you to see her. For now, your task is to absorb the Blood Crystal and adjust your state as quickly as possible." The Grand Elder waved his hand and turned away.
Only Qin Chen and his group remained in the area.
"Hmph." Xu Dongsheng and the others gave Qin Chen a cold glance before returning to their rooms.
"Tie Niu, are you alright?" Ji Ruri noticed that Qin Chen's complexion seemed off and expressed concern.
"Ruri, do you know where Ji Yue is?"
"This..." Ji Ruri forced a smile, "How would I know? This ancestral land is my first visit as well. However..."
He lowered his voice and said softly, "But I heard my father mention that Ji Yue isn't cultivating in the ancestral land; she offended the ancestor after returning from the Piao Miao Palace and is being confined here for reflection. So it's best not to dwell on this too much. Since the Grand Elder said you can meet Ji Yue after the baptism, he likely won't lie to you, and it won't be long."
"Reflection?" Qin Chen murmured, deep in thought.
"Ruri, farewell. I'm going to cultivate," Qin Chen said, thinking of Ji Yue, and he lost interest in anything else, turning to head back to his room.
"This..." Ji Ruri watched Qin Chen leave, ultimately shaking his head, speechless, "Truly forgetting friends for beauty!"
He still wanted to learn about the effects of the Blood Crystal from Qin Chen since it was his first time seeing one.
Each person's stone room was quite large, complete with tables, beds, and benches, and the tables were filled with various foods, quite abundant.
But Qin Chen had no appetite. Sitting on the chair, he looked at the Blood Crystal in his hand, his gaze turning cold.
"I didn't expect the Ji family's ancestral land to have already been breached by the Demon Tribe," Qin Chen sighed inwardly.
Over the past three hundred years, it seemed many events had occurred in the Ji family, leading to this change. Yet, what exactly had happened, Qin Chen did not know, and he felt anxious.
"I need to find a way. Since Ji Yue is in this ancestral land, I find it hard to believe I can't find her." Qin Chen suddenly stood up, just about to investigate the room when he was startled, as he felt the sense of being spied on return to his mind.
"Someone is watching me."
Qin Chen's scalp tingled immediately.
This feeling was as if a pair of eyes were staring at him from the darkness, making him uncomfortable all over.
"I can't act rashly."
Naturally, Qin Chen picked up the food on the table, eating while quietly investigating his surroundings. This sense of being watched was not from any spiritual or soul probing but seemed rather to be a special method of monitoring him.
"Itβs a restriction!"
After observing for a moment, Qin Chen finally understood the source of the feeling; the room was filled with various restrictions. These restrictions were quite concealed, and someone was monitoring him through them.
