“Still, it’s quite a coincidence that on the day after I joined, there’s a meeting where all the executives gather together.”
On the way to the venue of the regular meeting, I casually raised a question.
“That’s true. But it’s just a coincidence, you know? Originally, this regular meeting was planned to include a report on the training exploration, so we trained the newcomers thoroughly up until the last minute before the meeting. Also, and I’m only saying this now, among the three guides excluding Orun and me, we planned to promote one of them to the first squad. The training exploration was also a test for that. We intended to get approval for promoting the chosen person at this meeting.”
I see.
So that was the ‘real intention’ behind the question I asked before the training exploration.
They probably wanted to see how the guides would handle unexpected situations.
That was quite a risky gamble...
There might have been someone among those three who was selected for the first squad.
“Hah, Orun, you don’t need to worry about that. All three originally came from their own parties and must have their attachments. Moreover, this was off the record, so the three don’t even know about it. From our side, we actually wanted them to join the frontline attackers. Your joining is the best possible outcome for the clan.”
If it’s like that, I probably don’t need to worry so much.

We arrived at the meeting room.
Following Ms. Selma, I entered the room.
Inside, the other members were already gathered, with only two seats left empty.
Glancing over the participants, they were all young.
The average age seemed to be around thirty.
The silver rabbits of the night sky is a clan with a history of over fifty years.
Normally, there would be older members, but probably because most of the veterans were expelled after last year’s incident, this was not the case.
I don’t know all the details, but I heard that those who were expelled had been involved in misconduct and were judged by the leader.
There was some turmoil within the clan at that time, and its momentum dropped.
However, in this past year, it has been gradually regaining its former strength.
“All present. Then, let’s start the regular meeting. I have something to say to everyone first.”
When I took the seat closest to the entrance, the leader confirmed everyone was here and gave the order to start the meeting.
“Most of you probably already know, but let me introduce again. Orun Dura, who joined the silver rabbits of the night sky as of yesterday.”
Since the leader introduced me first, I stood up.
All eyes turned to me.
Most of the gazes seemed to be appraising, making it somewhat uncomfortable.
“He was originally part of a hero party as an explorer but recently left that party. There will be a detailed report later, but after leaving, he accompanied our training exploration and, the day before yesterday, single-handedly defeated the black dragon, the floor boss of the 92nd floor. He is a skilled individual.”
The leader explained me politely.
“Not only his combat power but also his knowledge, including information about the unexplored 93rd layer, is extensive. Furthermore, a remarkable point is that he single-handedly managed his party. He’s not only strong in combat but also possesses excellent knowledge and management skills. Therefore, although he just joined, I intend to appoint him as an executive, succeeding Albert. His joining and placement in the first squad are decided, but to become an executive requires approval from two-thirds or more of the current executives, so I would like to take a vote here.”
I’m a bit overwhelmed by this overwhelming praise beyond what I imagined...
“Then, I’ll call for the vote. Those in favor—”
“Leader, please wait.”
Just as the leader was about to call for the vote after a breath, one of the attendees raised an objection.
He was an intellectual-looking man in his late thirties with glasses.
“Before voting, I want to ask the candidate’s resolve. Orun-kun, right? Can you dedicate yourself to this clan? There are quite a few members in this clan. Your decisions could ruin their lives. You are well aware of this, aren’t you?”
