Jack of All Trades, Party of None

Chapter 36: restart 🔄

Published: January 22, 2026

After leaving my grandpa’s shop, I immediately returned to the headquarters of the silver rabbits of the night sky to meet with Mr. Vince.

“It seems giving you time to think was the right decision,” Mr. Vince murmured with a smile as he looked at me.

“Mr. Vince—no, Leader. I accept the invitation from earlier. Please, let me join the silver rabbits of the night sky,” I said, bowing my head respectfully to the leader.

Just then, the door opened and Ms. Selma entered the room.

She handed me a folded piece of cloth.

I took it without thinking, but was puzzled, not knowing what to do with it. Seeing this, Ms. Selma spoke up.

“Try unfolding it.”

I did as she said and spread it out.

“This is…”

When unfolded, it was a long coat with a hood, predominantly black and blue.

Though the design differed, it closely resembled the coats worn by members of the silver rabbits of the night sky during their dungeon explorations.

On the left chest area was embroidered the emblem of the silver rabbits of the night sky.

“I made this coat modeled after the one Orun used to wear. Try putting it on.”

I slipped on the long coat.

Of course, I hadn’t given them my size, so the coat was too big and baggy.

(I’m sorry they went to the trouble of making it, but there’s no way I can wear this for dungeon exploration…)

Just as I was thinking that, the coat began to shrink little by little until it fit perfectly.

(Huh, what is this…)

I couldn’t hide my bewilderment at this strange phenomenon I had never seen or heard of before.

“Heh, even you didn’t know about this, huh? This is one of our clan’s secret techniques. There are many more, but I’ll teach you those in due time. Naturally, keep it strictly confidential, alright?”

“I had no idea such techniques existed,” I admitted honestly.

Just seeing this made me feel glad I had come here.

I’ve devoured all kinds of knowledge and techniques so far.

But self-study has its limits.

Just the thought of learning knowledge and skills I don’t know yet excites me.

The leader spoke seriously to me.

“You were recently betrayed harshly by comrades you trusted. I can only imagine the wounds left in your heart, but I understand they run deep. That’s why we want to show you our sincerity not just with words, but with actions. So that you yourself will believe we deserve your trust. The silver rabbits of the night sky will definitely earn Orun Dura’s confidence.”

Indeed, being kicked out of the hero party had affected me more than I expected.

For a while, I even thought I was fine being alone.

But that mindset changed because of my grandpa’s words.

Not only that, but also the scene after we defeated the floor boss of the 50th layer during the training dungeon exploration—the way we all praised each other.

It was a heartwarming sight where everyone seemed to be laughing truly from the bottom of their hearts.

I wanted to be part of that circle.

I wanted comrades and friends who could laugh sincerely alongside me.

This has been my wish since I was a child.

I don’t even know why I feel that way.

—Wait? Why did I think that again? It’s rare for me to forget like this.

“...Is that so? Then I shall determine whether this clan is truly trustworthy.”

“That’s what I want.”

It has been nine years since I became an explorer.

Though I was expelled from the party I’d been with since the beginning, my second life as an explorer is about to begin.

Thank you very much for reading to the end.

This concludes the first chapter!

Next, there will be a side story before the second chapter begins.

Look forward to Orun’s future exploits as he joins the silver rabbits of the night sky!
