Chapter 23: Guide vs. Floor Boss of the 50th Layer 🏰

Published: January 22, 2026

Somehow, we had reached the boss area of the 50th layer…

Honestly, I never thought we’d get this far without any major problems.

As the layers got deeper, there were more and more occasions where rookie parties seemed about to be defeated, and the guide had to step in and finish the fight.

But that was inevitable.

Still, the rookies seemed to have gotten used to dungeon exploration over these past three days, and today’s schedule was running far ahead of plan.

“Alright, let’s quickly take down the floor boss and then celebrate!”

Ms. Selma called out as the guide, casting various buffs on us.

“““Oh yeah!!!”””

The floor boss on the 50th layer was a gigantic demonic beast crab.

Overall, it was huge, but only the left claw was about as large as its body, making its figure extremely unbalanced.

In this battle, I had a significant role.

—My task was to cut off that troublesome left claw.

The crab’s claw was incredibly tough, so cutting it off would usually take a lot of time.

—Normally.

I took the lead, charging straight at the crab.

While running, I cast the buffs I needed on myself.

The crab raised its left claw to strike downward at me.

How kind of it to prepare itself to be cut off like this.

Before the claw could come down, I kicked off the ground, leaping just over the crab’s head.

As I crossed past the crab, I aimed my sword at the base of the left claw.

Just before the blade made contact, I activated “Instantaneous Ability Super Boost (Impact).”

“Instantaneous Ability Super Boost (Impact)” was one of my original magics.

Its effect was simple.

For less than a second, this magic forcibly increased the performance, durability, and magical power of the enchanted equipment up to a maximum of one hundred times (…).

While deepening my knowledge of magic, I discovered a bug in the magical system.

Though calling it a bug might be misleading, as it didn’t affect ordinary magic use at all.

I exploited this bug as a cheat to establish the magic “Instantaneous Ability Super Boost (Impact)” along with a certain technique.

I do feel a bit guilty about it, but since using it doesn’t pose any fatal drawbacks like threatening people’s lives, I’m unreserved in employing it.

Constructing techniques is extremely difficult, but it’s one of the technologies I’ve mastered thoroughly.

Therefore, the difficulty of technique construction isn’t an obstacle for me.

As a support magic enchanter with low enhancement values, this is one of the ways I survive in the deeper layers—so I use it without hesitation.

This is my identity.

And even though it’s undeniably useful, it’s basically cheating.

That’s why I will never reveal this magic.

Hence, it is magic that only I can use—a magic that belongs solely to me.

My sword swung without any resistance, slicing the claw off cleanly at the base.

I then vaulted over the crab and landed behind it.

“No way!? He really cut off the claw in one strike!”

I heard Mr. Barnard’s excited voice from the other side of the crab.

You didn’t believe me when I said I’d cut off the claw on the first hit, huh?

The crab tried to turn toward me to attack, but before it could, two defenders closed in and drew its aggro.

Without the troublesome claw, it was just a weak demonic beast covered in a hard shell.

The two defenders attacked from the front while I targeted its legs from behind, pinning it in place.

Ms. Selma and Ms. Cathy concentrated offensive magic on the shell from above.

As cracks appeared in the shell, I drove my sword into the fractures.

In less than five minutes, the crab’s body dissolved into black mist.

â—‡

The two defenders collected magic stones and demonic beast materials and then returned to the rookies.

Everyone was beaming, praising each other for the past three days.

(What a great atmosphere this clan has.)

Watching that sight warmed my heart.

But I didn’t join the circle; after slaying the crab, I couldn’t bring myself to move.

(Still, what’s this feeling…? It’s almost like being in the deep layers…)
