Chapter 191: Dungeon Conquest Tour with Financial Troubles 💸

“Chicken sautéed in butter, grilled chicken and long green onion skewers, meat and vegetable pot-au-feu, sweet and sour pork, salted river fish, hash browns, and then—”

Fuuka rattled off the names of dishes one after another, as if reciting some kind of spell.

“Uh, um…”

After Fuuka finished her spell-like order, the waiter who had been listening over gave us a troubled look.

Though he didn’t say it aloud, the expression on his face clearly seemed to say, “Can you really eat all that?”

From beside me, Mr. Haruto let out an exasperated voice, “You’re really going all out from the start…”

He then turned to face the waiter and spoke up.

“You might think I’m joking, but we’ll eat everything properly. We’ll also pay the money without fail, so don’t worry.”

“U-Understood. Then, I will bring out the dishes as soon as they are ready, one by one.”

“Alright, thank you.”

The waiter left to relay the order to the kitchen.

We are currently in Keglis, a town in the Nohitant Kingdom.

Recently, the three of us—myself, Fuuka, and Mr. Haruto—received a request from Princess Lucilla of this kingdom.

The request was to conquer several dungeons located within the kingdom.

One of the dungeons targeted for conquest is near this town, so we planned to stay here overnight and set out to conquer it early tomorrow.

“I knew Fuuka was a big eater, but does she always eat this much?”

For us explorers, whose bodies are our most important asset, meals are crucial.

However, if she actually eats all the dishes she just ordered, it would be quite a heavy load.

Normally, that could affect tomorrow’s dungeon conquest, but since Mr. Haruto isn’t stopping her, Fuuka must be able to move without any problem.

“Well, this is about average. Thanks to that, the ‘Red Copper Twilight’ clan is always broke.”

Mr. Haruto answered my question.

Though his words sounded like a complaint, he didn’t seem to be seriously blaming Fuuka; rather, it was said half in jest.

“I earn enough to make up for it.”

Fuuka responded to Mr. Haruto’s complaint.

Her expression remained mostly unchanged, but she looked somewhat annoyed by his comment.

“Huh, it’s rare for you to join in on a conversation like this. So, you’re basically saying you don’t want Orun to get a weird impression of you?”

“…Not really. It’s just that Haruto said our clan is poor because of me, so I was just arguing against that.”

Fuuka looked away as she spoke, like a child giving an awkward excuse.

Mr. Haruto seemed to think similarly—he smiled as if watching something amusing while muttering, “Hmmm.”

“That expression of yours is really annoying. I’m sure both of you are thinking rude things. Can I just cut you both?”

Fuuka gave us a sharp glare and said something threatening.

“If you keep teasing me, I really might draw my sword. Since the food is here, let’s eat.”

Mr. Haruto said that just as the waiter appeared carrying the dishes.

He possesses the supernatural ability called [bird’s-eye vision].

This ability lets him transfer his sight to any place he wishes.

Because he can even see places hidden from view, it’s an extremely useful ability.

By using it to check the kitchen and surroundings, he probably noticed the dishes were ready to be served early.

Fuuka’s anger evaporated as the food arrived, her eyes sparkling with delight.

Then she shifted her gaze to me and asked, “Can I start eating?”

I found it strange why she would seek my permission, but since it didn’t seem necessary to say anything special, I simply nodded.

“Well then, let’s eat.”

Hearing my words, Fuuka and Mr. Haruto said, “Let’s eat,” and began to eat.

Fuuka’s expression didn’t change much even as she ate, but the atmosphere she gave off was one of happiness.

Some time after the first dishes were served, there were many empty plates on the table.

Mr. Haruto and I had eaten our fill and had stopped touching the food, but Fuuka happily continued to eat the dishes in front of her.
