Last month, when my master took me to an expensive restaurant as a coming-of-age celebration.
“I was thinking about various ways to celebrate your adulthood, but in the end, this was the only thing I could give you.”
Some time after I had confessed my worries to my master, he handed me several sheets of paper with a self-deprecating smile.
When I took them and glanced down, the papers were covered with densely written technique formulas.
“...Master, is this a single magic spell?”
I think it’s no wonder I asked that. From the content written on the papers, it was clear that these were magic formulas.
But the amount of writing was extraordinary.
I had once seen the formulas for the highest difficulty magic known as Space Leap, but even then I had immediately realized that with my current level, I could never use it in actual combat.
What was written on these papers was a formula of comparable complexity.
“That’s right. I originally wanted to split it into six parts, but I didn’t have the time. Sorry for giving you something half-done.”
“No, not at all! But this magic... isn’t it your original magic, master? It seems somewhat similar to the six basic types of support magic, though.”
“As expected of an enchanter, correct. You know that I use a unique buff that only I can apply, don’t you?”
“Yes. It’s your original magic with higher enhancement values than usual support magic, right?”
“Yeah. I call this magic ‘stacking.’ But this magic doesn’t work on others. I didn’t know why until recently, but I finally figured it out. And the formulas I just gave you are a version of ‘stacking’ modified so that it can be activated not only on myself but also on others.”
“So this is the buff formula you usually use, master...”
“I’ve modified it quite a bit, but the effect should be the same.”
“...I’m really grateful, but this is your original magic, right? I’ve never developed original magic myself, so I can only imagine how much effort it must take. Are you really okay with giving something like this to someone like me so easily...?”
“Don’t belittle yourself like that. You’re a talented enchanter. Besides, we plan to release this magic to the clan soon, but before that, we need testers. Logan was the perfect candidate. So don’t hesitate to use it. And it’d be helpful if you could regularly report your experience with it. That is, if you can master it.”
My master said this with a teasing tone.
Probably, the tester story was just a way to ease my guilt.
“...Thank you, master. I will definitely master this magic!”
“Yeah, I’m counting on you. Also, here’s a piece of advice for you, Logan—”

By activating Double Stacking, I was able to cancel out the boy’s debuff.
“...?”
The boy, who was also an enchanter, seemed to notice the change in my atmosphere and showed a hint of caution.
Having grasped some of the nuances of Double Stacking, I further constructed the formulas and activated the magic.
“...Triple Stacking!”
My master must have used this multiple times in combat.
How high is the wall I have to overcome?
Each time I use Stacking, the headache worsens.
This is my limit for now.
I can’t stack more than this.
In other words, I can’t update the buffs.
But fortunately or unfortunately, my support magic has a much longer duration than average — about 400 seconds.
—In these 400 seconds, I will blow these two away!
“—Fred, fall back!”
“...Huh?”
As I kicked off the ground, the girl shouted.
I closed the distance to the boy in one move and thrust my spear.
The boy didn’t react at all. He tried to avoid the vital spot and stab, but the girl rapidly cut in between us.
She stopped the spear’s tip with her sword.
I pushed the spear powerfully, and both the girl and the boy behind her were blown away.
“Amazing. Even with the debuff, that much strength wells up...”
“What power... Fred! Give me a buff!”
The girl called out to the boy as she recovered.
