Having arrived at the first layer of the dungeon, we began making our way toward the eighth layer by following the route I had preplanned.
The investigations from the first to the sixth layers had already been mostly completed by my predecessor.
As for the seventh layer, judging from the reports, more than half of the exploration was finished, so we decided to postpone the seventh layer and investigate the eighth layer first.
By the way, the battles along the way were entrusted to the Twilight Moonbow.
I was personally training my qi, and the enemies here were no problem for the Twilight Moonbow to handle.
Since we hadn’t had many chances to fight together since Luna joined, a big reason was to take this opportunity to check the new party’s coordination.
“There are five goblins just around the corner on the right.”
As we advanced through the dungeon, Sophie called out.
The group of goblins Sophie spotted was out of sight and quite a distance away.
Yet she was able to accurately detect their position and number.
Sophie’s sensing ability has been sharpening day by day.
Her detection is close to what people call “intuition.”
Although it varies by person, explorers who have spent many years in dungeons are said to develop a sharp sixth sense, like intuition.
In reality, it’s a “highly accurate guess” derived from information such as the dungeon’s atmosphere at the time combined with years of experience.
However, Sophie’s sensing ability does not fit this explanation.
After all, Sophie lacks the overwhelming experience compared to advanced explorers.
Yet she possesses a sensing ability that rivals theirs, probably thanks to her supernatural ability, telekinesis.
Supernatural abilities often trigger secondary powers.
My mana convergence and Luna’s spirit domination are examples.
Since these abilities interfere with mana, they allow us to sense mana that humans normally cannot.
There are still many unknowns about telekinesis, but it is unquestionably an ability to physically influence objects.
In other words, it can be described as the ability to interfere with objects.
I believe this is related to Sophie’s sensing ability.
Sophie has only had her supernatural ability for about two months.
It’s easy to imagine that she will master it increasingly from now on.
Right now, my sensing ability is still superior, but in the future, she might even surpass me.
I’m truly excited to see how she will grow.
“Sister Ru, can you set up a decoy magic light (induction) at the corner?”
“Understood.”
Following Sophie’s directive, Luna activated the decoy magic light (induction) at the intersection.
Among the members of the Twilight Moonbow, Luna is naturally by far the strongest.
She’s also probably the best at commanding the party.
However, since Luna declined to take on the role of leader, Sophie continues to command the party as usual.
“Log, when the goblins are drawn out by the magic light, we’ll take them down with magic. You take two, I’ll take three.”
“...Roger that.”
As Sophie and Log constructed their techniques, the goblins approached the magic light.
“Fire Arrows!!”
At the moment all five goblins came into view, Sophie and Log unleashed magic, multiple fire arrows piercing through them.
“Got them!”
“Sophie, that’s amazing! How did you know there were goblins there!?”
“Um, I just kind of had a feeling they were there.”
Carol spoke to Sophie in admiration.
Hearing their conversation from behind, I approached Log, who was a bit away.
“Log, good job.”
“Master... I was just following Sophie’s orders, so I’m not tired at all.”
Log responded with a weak smile.
(I was planning to talk to Log a little later, but maybe now’s a good time to probe a bit.)
“Are you bothered that Sophie took over your role?”
“...!”
Log quietly gasped at my question.
Before Sophie manifested her supernatural ability, Log was responsible for keeping watch around us.
His sensing ability was superior even compared to explorers of the same level.
