I was rocked gently in the carriage, watching the people working on the city's restoration.
A week has passed since the day Oliver went berserk and the flood of demonic beasts occurred.
Since that incident, almost all the explorers from the silver rabbits of the night sky had been participating in the restoration work.
I heard that the removal of the rubble and debris was completed yesterday, and starting today, the full-scale restoration work would begin.
Along with that, the silver rabbits of the night sky also switched back to normal operations.
My magical tool, Object Float, which I developed, played a huge role in removing rubble and rescuing people who were buried, and it became more famous than expected.
Originally, this magic could only lift light objects, but during the thanksgiving festival’s preparation period, I borrowed knowledge from the magic development lab to improve it.
As a result, I succeeded in lifting even things heavier than humans.
However, this magic cannot lift living creatures in general, including humans. I assume this is related to the mana resistance inherent in living beings.
It may be inappropriate to say this under the current circumstances, but sales of the Object Float magical tools have been going well.
Over the past week, I was busy with post-incident tasks including the city’s restoration, so I was able to focus on these matters, but now that the busyness has somewhat settled down, I find myself thinking about that day.
I lost to Oliver.
When he pierced my abdomen during our fight, I was prepared to die.
But I didn’t die, and when I next came to, I was in a forest in the southern part of the city, and Oliver had regained consciousness.
The expression on Oliver’s face then, as if a weight had been lifted from him, left a strong impression on me.
“Orun, you must go straight along the path you have chosen. Whatever choices you make, we will respect them.”
Those were the words Oliver spoke to me when handing me over to the military, and they still swirl inside me.
Why did Oliver destroy the city?
Why was he so calm after regaining consciousness?
Why am I still alive?
Besides these, there are too many unknowns about this incident.
I plan to investigate this matter from now on.
There have been too many puzzling events recently.
It feels like I can’t just dismiss them as mere coincidences.
And since that day, I’ve had the same dream repeatedly.
The dream depicts the events from when I lost to Oliver until I woke up in the forest.
In the dream, I was overwhelmingly dominant over Oliver, who was so strong.
Though I know it’s just a dream, the sensation is strangely realistic, and I am left with an indescribable feeling after waking.
If there’s even a one in ten thousand chance that the dream events are true, it means I possess that kind of power—but why did dream-me know about such power?

Since it seemed like it would take a while to reach the destination, I decided to organize my thoughts about the recent incident.
Two things happened simultaneously during the incident.
The first was Oliver’s destruction of the city.
I heard that Philly Carpenter, who also belongs to the hero party aside from Oliver, was involved in the city’s destruction.
Additionally, Aneli and Derrick tried to harm the guild but were captured by Will and Ms. Rain.
Because of this, currently all members of the hero party except Philly Carpenter are detained.
I heard Philly has been missing since right after the incident.
That’s about all I know about the hero party’s current situation.
But I should be able to get more details at the place I’m heading to.
The second event was the sudden flood of demonic beasts appearing on the surface—from all five dungeons around Tsutolairu.
Such floods are extremely rare.
There are many dungeons scattered across the country, but the frequency of demonic beast floods is about once every few years at most.
That it happened simultaneously in five locations is clearly abnormal.
The cause is currently under investigation.
