CHAPTER TEXT:
Sword Armored Beast (First Update)
Mist River, 7:30 PM.
Chen Hu came downstairs holding a box containing tiger beetles and called out to Zhang Xiaolan, who was watching TV in the living room, “Mom, I’m going out for a walk.”
Due to the good security, Zhang Xiaolan didn’t worry about his safety and just reminded him, “Don’t go too far, okay?”
“I know.”
“Wait, why are you taking the pet insects that your brother raised with you for a walk?” Zhang Xiaolan looked at the box he was holding in confusion.
“Oh, my brother called me this afternoon and told me to take them out to release.” Chen Hu blinked.
He had no choice; his brother’s request to tie the insects with a rope and throw them into the water was too ridiculous. Telling Zhang Xiaolan would probably make her think he was deliberately causing trouble, so it was better to say he was releasing them.
“Your brother called you?”
Zhang Xiaolan was taken aback and immediately became concerned, “Did he say how he’s doing over there? Is he hurt? Is he eating well?”
“I heard that Keluoya is very backward, with intermittent signals and frequent power outages in some places…”
“Cough! Mom, he’s fine and doing really well.” Chen Hu quickly interrupted.
Without waiting for Zhang Xiaolan to respond, he ran outside, “Mom, I’m heading out now.”
It was already late November, and the weather was getting cooler. Fewer pedestrians were out at night, and along the riverside road, only a few elderly people were walking with children.
Following Chen Chu’s instructions, Chen Hu arrived under the bridge by the river, took out a rope, and tied it to the box containing the tiger beetles, anchoring it with a small stone.
After testing the weight, Chen Hu suddenly threw both the stone and the box out.
Splash! Water splashed everywhere as the stone sank quickly, while the box with several small holes floated on the surface, secured underwater by the stone.
“Is this okay?” Chen Hu looked at the box floating in the water with some uncertainty. After thinking for a moment, he took out his phone.
Due to the time difference, it was around the middle of the night in Keluoya.
Having not slept all night, Chen Chu quickly answered when he heard the phone ring.
“Bro, I threw the tiger beetles into the river.”
“Okay, I know. You can head back now.”
While Chen Chu was speaking, a three-meter-long black mutated beast quietly lurked just below the water's surface under the bridge, subtly raising its head to watch Chen Hu by the riverbank.
“Oh, then I’ll head back.”
Since Chen Chu said it was fine, Chen Hu hung up the phone and left.
About ten minutes later, it was already 8:30 PM. Under the dim light of the bridge, the water was churning, and a massive black head emerged from the surface.
With spikes half a meter long on both sides, three pairs of blood-red antennae spread out angrily, giving the heavy armored beast an inexplicable majesty.
Boom! The heavy armored beast swallowed the tiger beetles along with the box in one gulp, then disappeared from the river’s surface.
Half an hour later, the black mutated beast arrived at the confluence of the tributary and the main river, returning to the cave entrance it had dug for hiding.
Of course, its current nest couldn’t accommodate its size. The heavy armored beast extended its claws, and the river water in that area began to churn and muddy.
Soon, an underwater passage five meters deep and six meters wide was excavated.
Only then did the heavy armored beast lay down in the center and bite down on the wooden box it had held in its mouth for a long time, crushing it.
At the same time, Chen Chu’s voice rang out in his mind, “Evolution.”
Boom!
Chen Chu’s voice was like a button pressed from tens of thousands of kilometers away, unleashing a torrential flow of heat within the heavy armored beast that erupted like a mountain roaring and a tsunami crashing.
This accumulation of evolutionary energy was far greater than the previous two times, and wherever it passed, the muscles, bones, and even the exoskeleton of the heavy armored beast began to decompose at a visible speed.
