CHAPTER 73: Source Pollution

Chen Chu's figure flashed rapidly between the dilapidated buildings, moving dozens of meters per second, quickly crossing half of the urban village to return to the front line of the battlefield.

However, the battle here was nearing its end.

Buildings had collapsed under the heavy artillery of tanks, and enormous bullet holes were left everywhere from machine gun fire. The ground was littered with the mangled bodies of rebel soldiers.

This time, a significant portion of the urban village was affected; many buildings were set ablaze, thick black smoke billowing into the air, and the scent of gunpowder filled the atmosphere.

Fortunately, this area was already abandoned.

Boom! At that moment, a tank roared in the distance, shelling a location where rebels were hiding on a rooftop. The explosion engulfed the entire building in flames.

Some soldiers had already disembarked from armored vehicles, forming small squads to compress the battlefield and encircle the remaining rebels who were relying on a few small buildings for resistance.

As for Xia Youhui and the others, they were panting by the side of a half-collapsed building, their battle armor stained red with blood, exuding a strong smell of carnage.

In addition to them, a small armored squad had come to support, which was why they were able to swiftly eliminate those rebels.

Li Hao, whose build was as imposing as a giant, slowly lifted his iron pillar, crushing a jeep that was trying to escape in panic.

The rebels inside were reduced to a mass of flesh and blood, making it impossible to discern their original forms.

Chen Chu's figure flashed, landing in front of Xia Youhui and the others. "Old Xia, are you all right?"

"I'm fine. This time, I really enjoyed the kill! A Chu, you should have seen how I stood strong against the heavy machine gun fire; it was so cool," Xia Youhui exclaimed excitedly.

However, his Heavy Shield was now dented, many sharp edges broken, with bullets lodged halfway into it, deformed.

There were even traces of grenades having exploded nearby.

Liu Feng grinned and waved weakly. "I won't die either." Several small indentations marred his chest, likely from powerful bullet impacts.

Although the bullets hadn't penetrated the alloy, the shockwave still made him feel like he had broken ribs, causing him to cough up blood.

Among the three, Bai Mu seemed to be in slightly better condition. He practiced a speed-focused technique with a matching sword technique. Although he looked a bit disheveled, his demeanor was relatively relaxed.

"A Chu, how's it going on your side?" Xia Youhui asked.

"It's okay; Li Meng is fine," Chen Chu nodded. "Another classmate was shot in the thigh by a sniper, but he's not in life-threatening danger. As for the sniper who ambushed us, I eliminated him."

Liu Feng frowned slightly. "These cultists of the evil god and the rebels really fear nothing."

Bai Mu shook his head. "It's not that they don't fear death; rather, after practicing the cult of the evil god's rapid success technique, their thinking is influenced, or one might say polluted, by the source of that existence."

"This includes those rebels collaborating with the cult of the evil god. Many of them must have unknowingly been affected in their thinking; otherwise, they wouldn't be acting so crazily."

"Their thinking can be influenced by the 'source'? The techniques of the cult of the evil god are that terrifying!" Chen Chu was somewhat shocked.

Bai Mu forced a smile. "I was also shocked the first time I heard it, but that’s the frightening aspect of the cult of the evil god; their techniques are different from our true martial practices."

"Or rather, those techniques aren't meant for humans to practice. It's very bizarre."

As they spoke, the four of them made their way to the armored squad behind them.

As they passed by an overturned armored vehicle, even though the soldiers inside had already evacuated, Chen Chu, Xia Youhui, and Bai Mu worked together to flip it back over.

However, when they saw the corpse of a classmate whose half body was charred and chest pierced by an anti-material sniper bullet, all four fell silent.
