CHAPTER 60: Energy Cannon
As the plane finished its ascent, Xia Youhui couldn't contain his excitement, his eyes sparkling as he gazed at the boundless sea of clouds outside.
Then, he suddenly said, “A Chu, do you think we’ll encounter missile attacks before the plane even lands?”
“... Can you say something more reassuring?” Chen Chu replied, speechless.
As novice cultivators, if they were to encounter a missile attack in mid-air, they would basically be waiting for death; jumping from a low altitude wouldn't guarantee a safe landing either.
“Hehe... I’m just a bit nervous,” Xia Youhui chuckled awkwardly.
Chen Chu gave him a sideways glance, “Is this your first time on a plane?”
“Come on, A Chu, it’s not like you’ve flown a lot either,” Xia Youhui rolled his eyes. “Things are a lot different now than they were fifty years ago. Flying has become a dangerous mode of transportation; nobody would choose to fly unless absolutely necessary.”
“Alright, the flight will take a while. I'm going to take a nap,” Chen Chu smiled. He certainly wouldn’t mention that he had once gotten sick from flying on business trips.
Chen Chu closed his eyes, appearing to be asleep, but in reality, his consciousness sank as he transformed into a heavy armored beast, ready to start today’s hunting.
The growth of the heavy armored beast was all about eating, just like in the beginning. Most of the biological energy converted from food would become nutrients for body growth, and ultimately, the essence would be extracted to convert into evolution points.
Therefore, during this time, the heavy armored beast was either eating or on its way to eat, rarely returning during the day. After getting enough to eat and drink, it would hide in the muddy riverbed.
Similarly, in this situation, Chen Chu had to dedicate half of his energy here every day, making him appear busy yet fulfilled.
During the long flight ahead, Chen Chu would only 'wake up' when it was time to eat, spending the rest of the time resting his eyes, which made Xia Youhui quite envious.
He wished he could be that calm.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Chen Chu was jolted awake by a sudden roaring sound. As he opened his eyes, he noticed some chaos in the cabin.
At the cabin door, the flight attendant hurriedly shouted, “Everyone stay calm! Stay calm! We just encountered a flock of ordinary mutated birds.”
“Silence!”
At that moment, a low voice resonated through the cabin, shaking everyone’s spirits. The somewhat panicked students immediately fell silent.
Pang Long, sitting in first class, stood at the cabin door and said in a deep voice, “As cultivators, you must have the composure of a mountain even when disaster strikes, and the sharpness to observe all around you.”
“Falling into chaos without understanding the situation is unacceptable.”
Bang! Bang! Bang!
While Pang Long lectured, Chen Chu saw missiles hanging under the wings shoot out with a burst of fire, while the cannon below the plane roared continuously, the recoil causing the aircraft to shudder slightly.
Boom! At that moment, a violent vibration erupted.
Pang Long couldn’t help but furrow his brows, “They even used energy cannons.”
Fortunately, a few minutes later, the roaring cannon gradually ceased, and all the students received updates that the flock of mutated birds had been completely eradicated.
“How thrilling!” Xia Youhui said, his hands shaking with excitement.
Chen Chu shook his head, “It’s thrilling, but that feeling of being unable to control your own safety is quite unpleasant.”
In the following hour, they encountered several more ordinary mutated bird attacks; it seemed that this area was rife with mutated beasts.
After navigating through that area, nothing extraordinary happened, and they flew for another three hours before arriving over their destination, Lestrol City.
They had departed around ten in the morning, and due to the time difference, it was already evening when they arrived in Lestrol, with temperatures being lower than those in Mist River.
