Chapter 43: Storm and Tempest
The heavy armored beast wreaked havoc in the river, and after satisfying its hunger, it swam back to its cave to rest and digest.
As Chen Chu regained his awareness and looked up, he discovered it was already past five in the afternoon. The orange-tinted sunset slanted through, casting shadows across the ground.
"It’s already this late," Chen Chu said with a hint of emotion.
Since releasing the heavy armored beast, he felt that time passed swiftly; in the blink of an eye, a day had gone by, and it seemed he hadn’t managed to do much.
At that moment, Luo Fei closed her book, glanced at the time, and gently asked, "Is it time to head back?"
"Sure," Chen Chu nodded.
As usual, they returned the books to their original spots and took the elevator out of the teaching building.
On the pedestrian path shaded by trees, the sunset filtered through the branches, casting speckles of light.
Walking side by side, Luo Fei suddenly asked, "Having swept away so many 'genius' cultivators today, how does it feel?"
Chen Chu thought for a moment, "Feelings? Those people are actually quite strong."
Luo Fei tilted her head slightly, "Why do you say that?"
Chen Chu explained, "Didn’t you notice? Even though I suppressed them with absolute strength during the battle, they remained calm and composed."
"Even when faced with my sudden burst of power, their instinctive reactions were quite standard; they didn’t panic at the first hint of defeat."
"This indicates that their will and character are very resilient. As long as they accumulate more combat experience and improve their strength, they shouldn't be underestimated."
"If you hadn’t mentioned it, I wouldn't have noticed that," Luo Fei said, slightly stunned.
Recalling Chen Chu's battles from earlier that day, she found that what he said was indeed accurate; those people remained calm even under Chen Chu's oppressive power.
At the same time, she admired Chen Chu for being so clear-headed in such moments.
As they chatted, the two exited the school and walked along the road... Boom!
Suddenly, a thunderous roar echoed, even though the sunset was still visible and there were no thick dark clouds in the sky, but large raindrops began to fall from above, coming down in a torrential downpour.
The sudden thunderstorm caught everyone off guard. The streets were filled with people running to escape the rain, and it was nearly impossible to hail a taxi.
Especially with the strong winds, it was hard to keep one’s eyes open.
Chen Chu and Luo Fei were caught in the downpour, with the main road ahead, and the nearest shelter still several meters away.
"Over there, we can take cover," Chen Chu shouted, quickly leading Luo Fei toward a distant spot.
That was a small roadside park with a pavilion, originally a place to cool off during summer.
By the time they reached the pavilion, both of their clothes were soaked. Chen Chu was fine; he wiped his face and shook off the water droplets without a care.
However, Luo Fei looked a bit disheveled, her long hair was wet and tangled with a white butterfly ribbon, exposing her clean and beautiful face.
Her long pants clung tightly to her due to the rain, accentuating her long and graceful legs.
"Stop staring!" Luo Fei’s face turned slightly red as she turned sideways, avoiding Chen Chu's gaze.
Chen Chu pulled back his appreciative look and smiled, "I can't help it; how can I not notice when you're so beautiful and have such a good figure?"
There wasn't a hint of embarrassment on his face, and his frankness lightened Luo Fei's shyness, making her feel less tense.
Chen Chu casually commented, "I wonder how long this rain will last."
Luo Fei, distracted, looked up and pondered, "These thunderstorms usually don’t last long; it might stop in half an hour."
Summer thunderstorms come suddenly; it can be clear one moment and overcast the next.
Sure enough, just as Luo Fei predicted, the heavy rain reduced after more than ten minutes and then turned into a light drizzle, lasting less than half an hour altogether.
