CHAPTER 34: Terrifying Defense
“Chen Chu… Chen Chu.”
At six o'clock in the afternoon, Luo Fei looked at Chen Chu, who seemed lost in thought, and called out to him twice.
“Ah… What’s up?” Chen Chu returned some of his focus.
Luo Fei brushed a few strands of hair behind her ear, pointed to the wall clock, and said softly, “It’s already six o'clock. I’m heading back. Do you want to come along?”
Wow, it’s already six o'clock. Time flies when the rivers and lakes are chaotic. With a sigh, Chen Chu nodded, “Sure.”
The two stood up, returned the borrowed books to their places, and walked out of the building.
At this hour, most students, who had been immersed in cultivation, were also gradually heading home, walking out in small groups, discussing the upcoming ranking competition in a few days.
As the sun set, the sunlight had lost its midday heat.
A gentle breeze swept through, tousling the girl’s hair and bringing with it a faint aroma of shampoo.
Chen Chu turned his head, looking at that beautifully delicate profile, and casually asked, “Luo Fei, are you participating in the competition next Monday?”
Luo Fei shook her head, “My technique is special, and I don’t have much combat ability in the early stages, so I don’t plan to participate.”
Having often heard her say that her cultivation technique was special, Chen Chu could not help but ask curiously, “What kind of technique are you practicing? How can it not have any combat power in the early stages?”
The girl merely pressed her lips together, revealing a faint smile, “That’s a secret. You’ll find out during the second-year trial.”
Chen Chu felt helpless, “…Alright.”
“And you? You should be participating in this ranking competition, right?” Luo Fei countered.
“Yeah, I will participate.”
Chen Chu nodded, “I feel like I’ve made some breakthroughs in my cultivation recently, so I want to join the ranking competition and practice with those classmates to accumulate combat experience.”
Luo Fei didn’t think much of this reason.
In her opinion, both she and Chen Chu were practicing low-level techniques, and their initial talents were average among this batch of freshmen; participating in the ranking competition was merely joining the fun.
After all, there were more than a hundred ordinary “geniuses” who established their foundations in just one week and practiced advanced techniques.
In terms of talent and the level of cultivation techniques, there was a significant gap between Chen Chu and those people, making it impossible for him to have a chance to enter the top 50.
On the way, the two chatted like ordinary friends.
However, Luo Fei noticed that Chen Chu would occasionally space out while talking, likely due to his arduous cultivation during this time and lack of proper rest.
Thinking of this, she couldn’t help but feel a bit of admiration.
Having slightly lesser talent was not a problem; as long as one was willing to cultivate hard, step by step, accumulating experience, there would eventually come a day to reach heights unimaginable to ordinary people.
……
The next day, Friday, the first-year students started their end-of-month examination, and many students displayed grim expressions while holding their exam papers.
There was no way around it; during this period, their energy had been devoted to cultivation, and who had the mood to study?
After hastily finishing the exam, they had Saturday off from school.
Instead of going to school to cultivate as usual, Chen Chu went to the bustling commercial street, preparing to cultivate amidst the noisy environment.
Today he wore a white T-shirt, gray pants, and white sneakers, dressed simply and casually.
With his tall stature, handsome features, and clean face, he had just found a chair in the shade of a tree when many people began to glance over.
Especially the girls dressed in light clothing, as they passed by this sunny, handsome youth, many would stop intentionally or unintentionally, pretending to browse the nearby shops.
