CHAPTER 30: Second Evolution
Back at home, Chen Hu had already cleaned a basin of fish meat.
“Brother, the mutated beast you’re raising eats more than I do. It’s growing bigger and bigger. Won’t it end up eating us out of house and home?” Chen Hu said, looking a bit worried.
He felt that the food at home had been getting worse recently, and it should all be due to the mutated beast his brother was raising.
In the past, he could fill his stomach with meat every day, but ever since more than half a month ago, although there was still meat, it seemed to disappear before he could have more than a few bites, leaving only vegetables on his plate.
It was only during this period that he managed to eat enough by cooking for himself, which was one of the reasons he was so eager to cook every day.
Thinking of this, Chen Hu proposed, “Brother, why don’t we eat that mutated beast? I heard its meat is very nourishing.”
Chen Chu shot him a sideways glance, his expression strange: “That suggestion sounds interesting. What do you think it would taste like?”
Chen Hu’s eyes lit up, thinking there was a chance, and he excitedly suggested, “Brother, I think barbecue flavor and garlic flavor would be better, and of course, spicy could work too.”
“Wait a minute, I’ll go get a knife.” Saying this, Chen Hu dashed back to the kitchen, grabbing a kitchen knife and preparing to go upstairs to kill the hexagonal salamander.
Chen Chu said irritably, “You can’t be serious; put the knife down.”
“Huh? Brother, we’re not eating it?” Chen Hu sounded a bit disappointed.
Chen Chu waved his hand dismissively: “All you think about is eating. This is a mutated beast I raised myself.”
“However, your worries aren’t unfounded. This mutated beast has been eating more and more lately, so I plan to release it in a couple of days.”
“...Release it.” Chen Hu felt instantly regretful.
What a waste, that was mutated beast meat...
“Alright, don’t feel bad about it.”
Chen Chu patted his shoulder: “You’re still young, there are some things you don’t understand. Just listen to me and go cook.”
“Okay.”
Although Chen Hu didn’t know why his brother wanted to release it, his trust from childhood prevented him from thinking too much.
Ignoring the conflicted Chen Hu, Chen Chu carried the basin of fish meat upstairs.
In the room, the hexagonal salamander, which had grown to sixty-eight centimeters, lay on the floor, its form becoming increasingly imposing, especially with the three pairs of red feathered horns spread out on its sides.
It was unclear whether it had evolved once or if it was simply growing, but the hexagonal salamander’s eyesight had also improved significantly.
From the low perspective of the salamander, Chen Chu could clearly see his own figure as well as the furniture in the room, but everything appeared enormous, giving off a sense of pressure.
After feeding his doppelgänger to satisfaction, Chen Chu practiced the dragon elephant skill again that night before resting.
………
The next day, on his way to class, he still saw the figures of law enforcers, indicating that those two cultists hadn’t been caught yet, Chen Chu thought thoughtfully.
As soon as he entered the classroom, he noticed that it was much livelier than before, with everyone discussing the ranking competition.
A few newly established foundation students were complaining about unfairness, as they had just entered the first level of heaven a few days ago, while many classmates had been cultivating for half a month.
In this situation, they were lacking in both physical foundation and technique proficiency, leaving them with no hope of standing out.
In contrast to their gloom, those who had broken through for half a month were eager to show off, excitedly believing that this was their chance for fame in the school.
Given that everyone was at the first level of heaven, they felt that if they tried hard, they might even have a shot at breaking into the top fifty.
