Chapter 11: Evolution
Chen Chu pondered for a moment before quietly asking, "How do you absorb genes? Are there any limitations?"
After several days of research, Chen Chu discovered that the attribute page lacked intelligence; it would only provide reminders when certain conditions were met.
And when it came to the prompts that were currently triggered, it would respond to his inquiries.
Sure enough, a line of transparent text slowly appeared.
"To initiate evolution, the clone must completely devour the creature whose genes are to be fused, absorbing the strongest genes of that creature to optimize itself."
"Note: Each time evolution can only fuse one type of gene."
"Only one gene can be fused at a time? Well, even so, that's still great," Chen Chu licked his lips, suppressing the excitement in his heart.
At that moment, countless thoughts surfaced in his mind as he contemplated which creature's genes to fuse with the salamander clone.
With the ability to fuse one creature's genes each time he evolved, Chen Chu was confident that after a few rounds of evolution, the salamander clone would become incredibly powerful.
First, he eliminated animals like elephants and lions.
Not only was it questionable whether he could obtain these animals, but even if he did, he couldn't consume them all in a short time, and moreover, those animals were actually quite average in genetic potential.
Despite being the largest land animal, elephants are not particularly outstanding in explosive strength, speed, or agility, including lions and tigers as well.
If we talk about the most extreme single-species creature on Earth, it would naturally be insects.
Ordinary ants can lift objects many times their own weight, something that mammals simply cannot do due to their small size and extreme structure.
Then there are fleas, which can jump over two hundred times their own height, equivalent to a person 1.7 meters tall jumping over 200 meters high.
Thus, after some consideration, Chen Chu set his sights on insects.
However, he didn't know much about them, but that wasn't a problem.
Chen Chu opened his computer and typed in the search bar, “What is the strongest insect in the insect kingdom?”
Immediately, dozens of trending topics popped up below.
The hexagonal salamander's strength was too weak; it struggled to even support its own crawling with its limbs, so Chen Chu's first choice was to enhance its power.
………
At nine o'clock in the morning, Chen Chu took a taxi to the largest flower, bird, fish, and insect market in the city.
Here, you can find any pet, whether it flies in the sky, crawls on the ground, or swims in the water.
For example, the original hexagonal salamander pet was bought by Chen Chu from here.
On the street, at a shop called "Fantasy Birds and Insects," Chen Chu walked in directly and asked a young man sitting by a tea table, "Do you have unicorn beetles here?"
"Unicorn beetles, yes," the young shopkeeper nodded.
Compared to ants that can lift objects dozens of times their own weight, the unicorn beetle is known as the strongest insect, with the largest recorded strength to lift objects 850 times its own weight.
This explosive strength far exceeds that of other animals and insects.
The young shopkeeper led Chen Chu inside and pointed to several boxes on the shelf, introducing, "We have three varieties of unicorn beetles here."
"They are the Double-Horned Rhinoceros Beetle, Teras South Sea Bag, and Mammoth Beetle. Which one do you want?"
Each of the three types of unicorn beetles was different in size, with the largest, the Mammoth Beetle, being about the size of half of Chen Chu's palm and over ten centimeters long, while the Teras South Sea Bag was similar.
With a glance, Chen Chu chose the last and smallest one, saying, "I’ll take a Double-Horned Rhinoceros Beetle."
"Alright, it's fifty bucks each. Do you need to buy some feed?"
"No need."
After scanning the payment, Chen Chu left the flower and bird market holding a small box containing the unicorn beetle and luxuriously chose to take a taxi back, feeling impatient.
