CHAPTER 274: Mysterious Origin Ice Crystal (Two-in-One Chapter)
“Yinming Spirit Serpent!”
Liu Yu's heart stirred, and he immediately recognized the serpent.
He had learned from various texts about the general information of first and second-tier demonic beasts, and combined with what Elder Qing Song had said, there was no doubt that this serpent was indeed the Yinming Spirit Serpent.
The blue-striped patterns on its gray-black body and its light blue vertical pupils were simply too distinct.
“SSSS!”
After emerging from the water, the Yinming Spirit Serpent flicked its tongue and scanned its surroundings with its cold, light blue eyes. It quickly locked onto the corpse of a demonic beast several miles away.
The bloody scent, which would cause discomfort to humans, was incredibly enticing to it, greatly increasing its appetite.
The serpent's body slightly twitched, instinctively conveying its need to feed.
However, a demonic beast was not a wild animal. A second-tier demonic beast possessed considerable intelligence, making it instinctively feel that something was amiss.
The Yinming Spirit Serpent twisted its head from side to side, releasing its consciousness to survey the area for possible dangers.
But Liu Yu, Cang Lan, and Elder Qing Song had already concealed themselves well; how could they be easily detected?
Yet, at the end of the day, a demonic beast remained a demonic beast. A second-tier demonic beast had only simple thinking and could not engage in complex thought processes.
After a long time without sensing danger, the instinct to feed gradually gained the upper hand.
The last intruder who dared to invade its territory had long since become a pile of excrement, and countless victories had proven that it was the only king of this domain!
The Yinming Spirit Serpent flicked its tail underwater and slowly moved toward the shore. It paused for a moment before unhesitatingly coiling its massive body and swimming toward the corpse of the Purple Marsh Frog.
“SSSS!”
Suddenly, the Yinming Spirit Serpent froze, staring at the body of the Purple Marsh Frog, as if sensing a faint and indistinct different aura.
A flicker of human-like hesitation flashed in its serpentine eyes, but ultimately, the urgent desire within its body overpowered everything else. Its three-zhang long body rapidly lunged toward the food.
Like a bolt of black lightning.
Though this serpent was large, it was not cumbersome; rather, it was extremely agile.
However, just as it was about to close in on the Purple Marsh Frog and nearly opened its mouth a full one hundred and eighty degrees,
an unexpected event occurred!
Vines, dark green and barbed, suddenly burst forth from the ground and rapidly coiled around the Yinming Spirit Serpent's body.
Caught off guard, the Yinming Spirit Serpent was quickly ensnared by two vines, and more dark green vines began to wrap around it.
“SSSS!!!”
The Yinming Spirit Serpent let out a painful hiss.
Although the barbs of the vines were sharp, they could not pierce its smooth and tough skin, but the pain experienced was far from negligible.
In agony, it fell to the ground and then violently thrashed its body.
A tremendous force surged forth, instantly tearing apart the two dark green vines, which fell to the ground.
But tearing these two vines was of no consequence, as four or five more vines quickly ensnared it!
Just as the Yinming Spirit Serpent was about to take action, Liu Yu and the others had already launched their attacks.
A sword blade that glimmered with a faint black light shot out from a corner behind, slashing with a sharp cold gleam across its back.
“Zzzzz!”
The sound of the sharp weapon piercing through the serpent's skin echoed in the silent forest.
Unfortunately, the Mother-Child Soul Pursuing Blade only managed to break through the serpent's skin. When it tried to penetrate further, it encountered tremendous resistance and had to withdraw temporarily to recharge.
It only inflicted a one-foot-long wound, which, relative to the serpent's three-zhang long body, could hardly be considered a light injury.
