Chapter 243: The Might of Magical Treasures
As time gradually approached the hour of si, the great sun was no longer far from its position in the center of the sky, and the temperature began to rise.
However, this slight increase in temperature was nothing to cultivators whose bodies had been washed clean by spiritual energy; not even a single drop of sweat was left behind.
The number of cultivators outside the main hall began to increase. Before the hour of si, all one hundred and eight foundation establishment cultivators had arrived.
No one dared to disregard the orders of the golden core master.
“Junior Brother Liu, over here! Senior sister will introduce you to a few fellow disciples.”
Yan Hongyu and Yan Qun'er also arrived outside the hall, greeting him through divine sense sound transmission.
“Senior sisters.”
Liu Yu opened his eyes and looked towards them, giving a slight nod.
“Thank you for your kindness, Senior Sister Hongyu, but there's no need,” Liu Yu replied to Yan Hongyu through sound transmission.
He only wanted to leverage the Yan Family's influence to facilitate his actions, but he didn’t wish to be entirely labeled as a member of the Yan Family, becoming a target for their opponents and getting embroiled in the internal struggles of the sect.
He hadn’t forgotten his original intention; everything he did was for better cultivation, not for the intrigues and power struggles within the sect.
Seeing that Liu Yu was unwilling, Yan Hongyu did not insist, turning to greet other disciples instead, her face beaming with familiarity.
Yan Qun'er wanted to come and talk to Liu Yu, but she was held back by her aunt, ultimately having to follow along within the familiar family network.
Liu Yu checked the time, and when the hour of si arrived, he opened his eyes and stored away the meditation cushion.
Suddenly, he sensed something unusual with his keen spiritual perception and looked up abruptly.
In the distant sky, a small black dot appeared, quickly growing larger in his line of sight until it hovered directly above the city lord's mansion.
The object resembled an enormous copper coin, overall showing a pale yellow color, round on the outside and square in the middle, with many mysterious characters etched on the underside.
These characters were not part of the mainstream writing in today’s cultivation world, and even with Liu Yu's current experience, he did not understand their origin or meaning.
The yellow square hole copper coin measured nearly thirty zhang in width and length, hovering in the sky and casting a large shadow that blocked out sunlight.
Other cultivators were not as sensitive with their spiritual perception as Liu Yu, and due to the high speed of the copper coin, most cultivators only noticed it as it approached the city lord's mansion.
“Magical treasure!”
A tremor surged through Liu Yu's heart as this term surfaced in his mind. He felt the overwhelming might of this treasure, instilling a sense of invulnerability.
Talisman treasures only retained a fraction of the powers of actual magical treasures, far from being comparable to treasures at their peak performance. Even top-tier cultivators in the qi refinement stage could still resist with supreme spiritual artifacts.
But if it were a complete magical treasure, even the best of the foundation establishment cultivators would likely be unable to withstand it, taking a few hits at most.
In the cultivation realm, the gaps became larger as one progressed.
This was not Liu Yu's first encounter with a magical treasure. Back during his qi refinement stage, prior to undertaking missions in Cold Moon City, he had seen Master Changfeng's gourd magical treasure, which was far more powerful than the square hole copper coin he saw now.
But regardless of the magical treasure, none were something he could resist at his current level.
If the target of the magical treasure were himself, Liu Yu asked himself if he would have no choice but to use the instantaneous travel talisman to escape.
