After hearing the candid opinions of the members of the knight order, Van-kun immediately headed to the training ground where Dee was.
"Sei! Sei! Hmph! Ha!"
The wind howled, causing the trees a little ways off to sway. From the center of it all came Dee’s shouts, audible alongside the sound of the wind, causing Van-kun to stop in his tracks. The training ground was spacious, and in the middle, Dee was swinging his sword through the air. Other knights were training as well, but Van-kun felt they were completely intimidated by Dee’s sword swings.
I always think this—Dee’s swordsmanship practice is clearly not ordinary. Talga and Ort can swing their swords impressively when serious, but Dee is on an entirely different level. By the way, his stamina is extraordinary too. If some contagious disease wiped out the Seato knight order, they might actually put a strategy into place where Dee alone alternates guarding Seato village and the fortress city murcia. Dee would probably do those daily round trips without complaint.
With someone possessing such extraordinary stats conducting training, it might be unbearable for ordinary people.
"Dee!"
Calling out, Dee, who looked like a wind god in motion, immediately stopped and ran over.
"Oh, Lord Van! What brings you here?"
Dee’s eyes sparkled as Van-kun prefaced his visit.
"I'm not here to train, you know?"
"Hmm! That’s disappointing! But still, as exercise, how about a hundred sword swings and some running—"
"I said I’m not doing that!"
"Too bad! Ha ha ha!"
With that exchange, Dee laughed heartily, showing his teeth. Van-kun smiled wryly at his usual demeanor, and casually brought up training.
"By the way, training seems really tough lately. Are Arub and Row about to die or something?"
He cautiously mentioned the two knight commander candidates to gauge the situation. Dee folded his arms and smirked.
"Oh ho! Indeed, I have been pushing those two through some rather harsh training so they can handle the role of knight commander someday! Have either of them been complaining?"
"No, strangely enough, even though they look like they’re dying, they don’t complain. But from a distance, I’m worried if they’re really okay."
"Hmm! That’s a good sign! They’re both working hard! If Lord Van is concerned about them, I’m sure they’ll try even harder!"
Dee laughed aloud. Apparently, Arub and Row were pushed harder than the others, yet they didn’t complain. Maybe they can handle it for now? Although, many of the knights are still rookies with about a year’s experience. Maybe it’s wrong to compare them to Arub and Row, who were knights before.
"We can't have them collapsing, so should we lower the training level a bit? Are they okay as is?"
Van-kun asked, and Dee thought about it for a moment.
"Hmm... yes. Currently, training is divided into five levels. Special training conducted by me and Talga. Ultra-advanced training for Arub, Row, and other knight commander candidates. Advanced training for Kamushin and regular knights. Intermediate training for Van and other rookies. And basic training for those who've been in the order less than six months."
"Wait, I’m at intermediate training!? Even though it’s that tough!?"
"Lord Van has less time to dedicate to training, so the sessions are shorter but twice as intense. If you did a half-day session, the intensity would be halved and it’d be normal training."
"So they’ve been cramming it in..."
Van-kun was shocked to learn this truth. He was supposed to be on intermediate training, but with the doubled density, it might be equivalent to advanced training or higher. It made sense why he was holding his own well in mock battles. No wonder some knights got shocked by it.
"By the way, do you review the training content?"
"Review training... yes, I think we do that about once a month."
"Wow, impressive."
Van-kun knew Dee’s passion for training, but still, regularly reviewing the program was commendable. He praised him, but Dee shook his head seriously.
