Seaside Town. Ever since I heard that, one thought wouldn't leave the back of my mind.
That was the seafood.
“Sea fish! Tuna! Bluefish! Whitefish! Crab! Shrimp!”
“L-Lord Van!?”
“What’s the matter!?”
After parting ways with Rosso in Tribute Town, the restrained craving finally exploded. Til and kamushin were surprised and exclaimed as Van-kun shook his head from side to side, searching for a restaurant. Arte blinked in astonishment.
“Fish? You usually eat river fish, don’t you?”
Panamera asked curiously, but I had to say no to that.
“River fish and sea fish are different. River fish have a light yet strong umami flavor and are excellent, but red meat and white meat fish, crustaceans, octopus, and squid from the sea are also amazing. Any objections?”
“N-no objections... You have unusual passion, boy.”
When I seriously explained the appeal of seafood, Panamera’s eyes widened as she responded. I think honest Panamera-san is cute.
“Kamushin. Sorry, but could you check if there’s a restaurant nearby? Since Ort and the others are here, I think gathering information will be quick.”
“Y-yes!”
After giving the order, Kamushin immediately switched gears and was about to run off. However, Arb and Row stopped him.
“Ah, I know of some restaurants.”
“I’ve only been once, but I accompanied Marquis Feltio when he visited here.”
Hearing their words, I turned around.
“Is there a delicious restaurant!?”
I asked as I turned, but strangely, Arb and Row took a step back and grimaced.
“P-probably...”
“We’ve only eaten there once too...”
“Alright, let’s go!”
Their answers were vague. Then I’d just have to find out myself. If it’s good, I want to stay for a month.
“Wahaha! Then leave it to me, Dee! I’ve been to this town three times and spent over ten days here in total! I know three restaurants that serve fish!”
“Oh, as expected of Dee! Which place do you recommend!?”
Dee, who was incredibly reliable, appeared. I asked with excitement. Dee pointed sequentially from the back, center, to the front of the town’s street.
“The back restaurant has the largest portions and is recommended! The center one has smaller portions! The front restaurant has a moderate amount!”
“How about taste!?”
“I can’t tell the difference! But the back place has...”
“Thanks! Got it!”
That wasn’t very helpful. Dee tried to give more info, but it was probably just about how portion sizes vary by dish. I tuned out.
I glanced at Espada, but he silently closed his eyes and shook his head. A stylish 'I don’t know' gesture. I’d take that into account.
While we were discussing, Talga finally spoke up.
“Lord Van, may I say something?”
“Talga! Oh, right, there was a noble here!”
“Ah, no, well, I only recently got my noble title... Anyway, the main fish here are mulchi and Syrah. Mulchi has a light white meat taste, and Syrah is a fatty red meat fish, if I recall correctly.”
“Oh, such useful information! Thank you, Talga!”
“N-no! I’m glad to be of help!”
When I thanked him, Talga looked incredibly happy. His huge muscular frame made the contrast adorable. This must make muscle-loving ladies very happy. Not really a useful reference, though.
I organized the information and decided which restaurant to go to.
“Alright, let’s go to the restaurant in the center. If the portions are small, we can try multiple dishes, so it’s perfect for the first place.”
“Yes!”
“I’m looking forward to the seafood.”
As we picked the restaurant, Arte and Til immediately responded happily. Meanwhile, Dee frowned in thought.
“Hmm, the center restaurant? The portions are small, though...”
“You can order plenty of seconds.”
“Then that’s fine! Wahahaha!”
Dee seemed satisfied. Good.
“I hope they have a wide variety of fruit wines.”
“I’ve heard that Tribute Town is always on the route of merchants from two countries, so it’s supposed to have a great selection of alcohol.”
“Oh! That sounds promising! Do they have strong drinks?”
