I ranked 6th in the daytime rankings!
Thank you very much!
My preference is for weapons with plenty of decorations.
Alright, the handle should be easy to grip, the guard straight, and the blade a flexible double-edged one... Next, I'll add some lettering and decorations in the center, and put a bit of effort into the pommel as well.
The thickness of the blade will be thicker than a typical sword, but the edge will be sharpened to the extreme... I feel the density of the metal is important. I'll compress it tightly and condense it.
I heard gasps from around me, but I didn't pay attention. Right now, I only think about this sword. I was always praised by my art teacher, after all. Time to show my skills. Imagine every last detail.
"...Alright."
The feedback felt perfect. But it didn’t take much time. It's not that I cut corners—I must have gotten the hang of it.
As proof, in my hand was an exaggeratedly splendid sword. It was about 60 centimeters long, with a blade width of about 15 centimeters at the base. The decorations looked cool too.
I lifted one corner of my mouth and handed the dagger to Kusala.
"Here, please. You're my very first customer, after all. I put some extra effort into the decorations."
Upon hearing that, Kusala took the sword with trembling hands and, for some reason, raised it towards the sky.
"Fwoah, fwoahhh!"
"Eh, what? Scary."
I was completely taken aback by Kusala’s sudden roar and immediately started working on the next sword.
Quietly distancing myself from Kusala, I picked up a lump of iron I had laid on the ground. This time, I just needed to make it longer with the same design. I already had a strong, clear image.
I stretched the metal like pulling clay, condensing it all at once into the shape of a sword. The length was one meter. For Kusala, any longer than this would probably be hard to use.
From behind me, I heard voices demanding to see the sword and Kusala protesting, but I completely ignored them.
Silence, audience. Lord Van is currently crafting a stylish longsword.
Even while thinking such unnecessary things, the image of the sword didn’t break and the mana flowed evenly. Maybe someday I might hum a blacksmith’s song while forging swords.
"...Alright, done. Yeah, it looks pretty cool."
I said that and raised the beautiful yet powerful longsword. Since the handle might be held with both hands, depending on the grip, it felt like it should be about 30 centimeters long, and the blade length was 70 centimeters. The guard was straight. The blade thickness was about 15 centimeters at the thick root.
Strong and sharp at the same time. After all, my good grades in arts and crafts weren’t for nothing.
Immersed in self-satisfaction, I handed the longsword to Kusala.
Then, Kusala held the dagger carefully in one hand and skillfully took the longsword with both hands.
"Ohooooh!"
A strange shout arose. It even looked like a tribal dance, with Kusala hopping on the spot.
Because of the commotion, other villagers gathered too.
Kusala’s excessive joy made Ort and the others’ eyes light up.
"Lo-Lord Van! Make me a sword too! I want that longsword!"
"I want a dagger! A stabbing one!"
The adventurers suddenly became lively. Oh, surprisingly, even the professionals want these weapons.
I smiled gently and said to Ort and the others,
"From three to five gold coins. Oh, if it’s a greatsword, maybe ten coins?"
"The price just went up!"
"It skyrocketed in an instant! What’s going on!?"
I doubled the price, but the place went into a panic. Maybe it was too expensive.
Just then, Pluriel frowned and looked at Kusala’s sword.
"Three gold coins... That might be a bit tough. I wanted you to make a dagger for me."
Pluriel muttered regretfully, and my conscience hurt. Making a girl sad—I'm such an idiot.
As a result, I couldn’t help but speak to Pluriel.
"...Alright. I guess I’ll do it for one gold coin as a service. Just this once, okay?"
Pretending to be tsundere, I turned away and said so. Pluriel blinked and looked at me.
"R-Really? Is that okay?"
