"Whew, whew." Wen Yu gasped heavily, realizing he had sprinted several hundred meters away, getting further and further from the community. He couldn't help but slow down and catch his breath.
"What kind of ability is that? So freakish! That pounce had at least 20 points of power. If I hadn't reacted quickly, I would have been a goner."
However, what puzzled Wen Yu was that he had survived in Mudanjiang City during his previous life, yet he had never heard of this one-eyed creature from anyone before.
"Could it be that this guy has left Mudanjiang City?"
After pondering for a long time without coming up with a reason, he simply dropped the thought.
Looking back at the community gate left far behind, Wen Yu felt helpless.
"Now I can't go back. Damn it, chased by a dead dog to the point where I can't even return home. I really have brought shame to the ranks of reborn individuals."
Wen Yu vented his frustration and, observing his disheveled appearance, lamented the terrifying combat power of the one-eyed creature. He once again contemplated his next course of action.
"I remember that on the third day of the apocalypse, there seemed to be a large treasure land appearing at Riverside Park. In my previous life, I had no idea what was going on there, but later I heard others mention it, and there were some very useful treasures inside. As a reborn individual, how could I miss such an opportunity?"
"However, before that, I should first tend to the wounds on my arm, exchange for some weapons and equipment, and enhance my physical strength. Otherwise, if I encounter that beast again, I might die a very ugly death."
Wen Yu recalled the terrifying red eyes of the one-eyed creature, filled with killing intent and rage, making him understand that there was definitely no end between them.
With its keen sense of smell, the one-eyed creature would undoubtedly be able to track him down.
After resting for a while, the pain in Wen Yu's arm made his face turn pale.
Looking at the swollen arm, he understood that he needed to heal his wounds quickly; otherwise, he might have to consider amputation and later regrow it through leveling up.
Fortunately, in this already demonized world, treating wounds was still relatively simple. Wen Yu ran several more blocks, shaking off the slowly shuffling zombies behind him.
Confirming that he had distanced himself enough from the one-eyed creature, he deactivated his soul beast's combat state.
Surveying the surroundings, Wen Yu turned into a hardware store and began searching for the materials he needed.
The hardware store was well-preserved, completely empty inside. It seemed the staff had directly abandoned their posts and left after witnessing the chaos on the streets.
"Ah, a kitchen knife. It's not sharpened; what's the use of that?"
"Uh, a hammer. Not bad, just a bit short, but it will do."
"Hey, a fire axe! This is a big weapon; this is good."
In just a few minutes, Wen Yu came out of the hardware store fully armed, casually carrying a fire axe, a small hammer hanging from his waist, and wearing an old pair of sneakers that could have belonged to either the staff or the owner on one foot, while the other wore his own shoe. His entire look resembled that of a homeless person, with the wandering soul beast adding an air of mystery to this "homeless man."
"Thud!"
The zombie in front of him was smashed a meter away, its head crushed flat, and its murky brain matter splattered all over.
"Ding! Earned 1 point."
Wen Yu watched the dead zombie before him. His newfound strength after leveling up had turned these filthy zombies into easy targets.
Most importantly, professionals were no longer afraid of the viruses on the zombies; even with just one hand, Wen Yu's strength could crush the weak zombies to death.
"Check points."
"Host has 100 remaining points."
After securing his weapon, Wen Yu began slaughtering zombies extensively and finally reached 100 points before night fell. He ran a few meters to the Exchange Stone Pillar and gently touched it with one unharmed hand.
