The one-eyed beast in front of him slowly lost its patience. Perhaps it was due to hunger, or maybe its brutal nature urged it to tear into its prey first.
The one-eyed beast decided to act without waiting any longer.
It let out a low growl at the old neighbor in front of it, opening its large mouth and viciously lunging forward to bite.
Looking at the mouth filled with shredded flesh, blood, and viruses, Wen Yu squeezed all his strength, his eyes filled with a terrifying fierceness. He thrust his right hand directly into the one-eyed beast's mouth, gripping its tongue with all his might and yanking it hard.
The one-eyed beast seemed taken aback, not expecting this human, in an absolute disadvantage, to dare retaliate, causing it to pause momentarily.
Considering the power difference between them, it ignored the pain from its mouth and pounced on Wen Yu.
The immense force left Wen Yu with no chance to resist; he fell alongside the one-eyed beast, which bit down hard with its upper and lower jaws.
"Crack."
A sound similar to breaking wood echoed, and Wen Yu felt a surge of excruciating pain. Soon after, he completely lost feeling in his right hand. Wen Yu knew that his right hand was gone.
"Ah ah ah..."
The immense pain instead ignited Wen Yu's ferocity and strong will to survive.
Using his remaining left hand to grip the nearby one-eyed beast, he exerted all his strength to flip the beast over, then frantically hurled himself toward the swirling vortex ahead.
The flipped one-eyed beast was startled, perhaps surprised that its prey could struggle so fiercely at such close range. Then it spotted Wen Yu's goal—the swirling vortex.
A hint of anthropomorphized confusion appeared in its remaining eye, which quickly faded and was replaced by brutality and bloodlust.
After all, a beast is still a beast; no matter how advanced its evolution, instinct will always be the primary factor influencing its actions.
It quickly spat out Wen Yu's mangled right hand and lunged at Wen Yu's calf.
The intense pain drove Wen Yu into a frenzy. Looking at the one-eyed beast tightly biting his calf, he abandoned any hope of escape, and his inner ferocity was completely unleashed.
He had already discarded the spear while fleeing and seized the large kitchen knife strapped to his back with his remaining left hand, swinging it down violently toward the one-eyed beast's head.
The knife fell swiftly, but the instant kill Wen Yu hoped for did not occur. Firstly, his dominant hand—the right one—was gone, and the strength of his left hand was limited. Secondly, after several battles, the knife was no longer as sharp as it had been initially.
Most importantly, as a first-level mutated beast, the hardness of its skin and bones was incomparable to the zombies corroded by demonic energy.
The kitchen knife struck the one-eyed beast's head, creating a wound that was neither deep nor shallow. However, the beast showed no sign of being affected; its eyes just began to glow ominously red, while its sharp claws relentlessly dug into Wen Yu's lower body, leaving numerous bloody gashes.
"Die! Just die!"
Wen Yu fell into complete madness. At this moment, he could only swing the kitchen knife desperately, chopping continuously.
The one-eyed beast was equally ferocious, the red glow in its remaining eye intensifying, regardless of how many times the knife struck its head, it continued to viciously bite down on Wen Yu's leg.
One of Wen Yu's strikes even landed on the one-eyed beast's nose, creating a large gash, yet the beast remained unfazed, with its red glow growing even brighter.
Wen Yu knew that if this continued, he would only be tortured to death by the one-eyed beast. With determination, he lifted the kitchen knife high above his head and swung it down hard.
In a frenzy, Wen Yu's strikes fell onto his own leg that was being bitten.
The intense pain constantly stimulated Wen Yu's nerves, and the increasingly dull weapon undoubtedly heightened his suffering.
Enduring the excruciating pain, his hand swung the knife down.
