As Old Man Sun got up to leave, Sun Ruixing couldn't help but sigh helplessly.
"Brother, don't take it to heart. If you ask me, in this small place, the most challenging thing is to serve these old folks."
Seeing Sun Ruixing's helpless tone, Wen Yu couldn't help but chuckle.
To establish a camp, one must have this kind of awareness; all sorts of people are gathered here, and if one isn't taken care of properly, it could lead to chaos. Unless one has extraordinary abilities or can exercise an iron-fisted approach with formidable strength, it's better to avoid such gathering places.
Just like Sun Ruixing in front of him. If it weren't for the burden of these camp members, with Sun Ruixing's capabilities, he could easily have reached a physique rating of over five and wouldn't need to put himself in such an awkward situation.
Wen Yu smiled lightly at Sun Ruixing and refrained from commenting on the matter. Everyone has their own way of living, and since Sun Ruixing felt it was worthwhile to lead this group of people, it wasn't his place to criticize.
"Time to eat!" Sun Ruixing shouted to the people below, mainly addressing the young fighters he had trained; most of the older folks had followed Old Man Sun.
Wen Yu lowered his head and quietly ate his meal. He had to admit that rural food was quite delicious. Of course, it might also be because this was the first warm meal he had eaten since the apocalypse began.
As the meal concluded, a group of middle-aged women started clearing the table, and Wen Yu began chatting about everyday matters with Sun Ruixing.
"Brother Sun, have you always lived in Birch Forest Town?" Wen Yu took the cigarette Sun Ruixing offered and took a couple of gentle puffs.
"Yes, I used to run transport. But ever since the apocalypse broke out, my daughter is in Beijing City attending university, and I don't know how she's doing now," Sun Ruixing said, releasing a puff of smoke, his gaze distant.
"Don't worry, good people will have good fortunes. Given Brother Sun saved so many people in HL Town, your daughter will be fine," Wen Yu said, offering rare words of comfort.
"That's true," Sun Ruixing chuckled.
"By the way, little brother, I need your help tomorrow. In the morning, I'll take some people to the Mudanjiang City toll station to have a look at the safety of my little camp. I hope Brother Wen Yu can lend me a hand," Sun Ruixing clearly didn't want to discuss personal matters, perhaps due to some sad memories.
Wen Yu pondered for a moment and replied, "That's fine, but after you return tomorrow, I will be leaving. I won’t hide it from you, Brother Sun; that big lion hunting me may still come after me, so I need to get away from Mudanjiang City as soon as possible."
"If Brother Wen Yu doesn’t mind my strength, I can help you deal with that big lion," Sun Ruixing patted his chest. Seeing Wen Yu maintain his smile but not say much, Sun Ruixing might have sensed that Wen Yu looked down on his combat capability, leading to an awkward chuckle.
"Alright, let's not talk about this anymore. I'll arrange a place for Brother Wen Yu to stay."
Sun Ruixing pulled Wen Yu and headed inside the house.
There were many small rooms inside, most separated by simple wooden boards, with just a mat making up a space.
Taking Wen Yu to a relatively clean small cubicle, Sun Ruixing apologetically said to him, "It's a small place, and the environment isn't great. I hope Brother Wen Yu can be understanding."
"No problem, at this time, I’m not one to be picky," Wen Yu replied, finding the cubicle's environment quite acceptable, at least much better than where he lived in his last life. He placed the war blade on the ground without any complaints.
"Then Brother Wen Yu can rest first. I’ll come call you when it's time for lunch," Sun Ruixing said. Food was scarce, and there were only two meals a day. This was still early in the apocalypse; soon enough, in some gathering places, having one full meal a day would be considered wealthy.
Nodding to Sun Ruixing, Wen Yu watched him turn to leave while gathering people to go clear the surrounding zombies and rescue survivors. Wen Yu shook his head helplessly.
