Doomsday Summoning Frenzy

Chapter 45: Welcome to Birch Forest Town 🌲

Published: January 31, 2025

The middle-aged man watched as Wen Yu ran towards him at an incredible speed, slicing through the zombies that came at him with the steel knife in his hand.

The middle-aged man let out a long breath, "Finally saved a useful person."

Wen Yu naturally wouldn't unleash all his strength, as he wasn't sure who the other party was or what kind of power they possessed. It's always good to hold back a little.

As Wen Yu climbed directly onto the large truck and sat in the passenger seat, the middle-aged man turned around and shouted loudly, "Brothers, grab your weapons!"

The professionals below quickly retreated, and then pulled out a huge pile of net bags from the truck's trunk, which were covered with sharp hooks.

He saw several strong men pick up the net bags, spread them out, and then hang the tail of the net bag on the back of the truck.

Then the vehicle slowly started moving, gradually reversing.

As the zombies staggered towards them and stepped onto the net bags, once the net was filled with zombies, the middle-aged man slammed the truck's accelerator.

The truck roared violently and sped off backward.

The zombies on the net bags were directly yanked to the ground, some rolling to the roadside, but a portion were caught by the hooks on the net bag and dragged forward by the truck.

Seeing the truck dragging a dozen zombies behind, Wen Yu raised his eyebrows and said, "Is this fishing?"

In his previous life, Wen Yu had heard of this method, which could catch level 0 zombies.

The middle-aged man lit a cigarette and took a deep drag, "You bet it is. There are still some people in the base who haven't changed their jobs; we're bringing them back to gain some points and combat experience."

He looked Wen Yu up and down, noticing the tattered protective suit and the blood-stained steel knife. His gaze lingered for a moment on the soul beast on Wen Yu's shoulder.

"I say, little brother, that little thing on your shoulder is quite interesting. Mind sharing?"

"Hidden profession," Wen Yu replied flatly.

The middle-aged man snuffed out his cigarette, grumbling, "This damn world, there's even hidden professions now. By the way, little brother, you look a bit disheveled. Where did you come from?"

"Mudanjiang City, I was chased out by a big lion that ran out of the zoo. The wounds on me just healed; I should thank you guys," Wen Yu said.

"Ah, no need to thank me. In this world, if humans don't help each other, we will all end up dead," the middle-aged man said with a melancholic expression.

Wen Yu couldn't help but laugh at the middle-aged man's words. It was one thing to talk about ideals, but why put on such a sorrowful look?

However, Wen Yu still admired such people. Although he wouldn't act like that himself, in this damned apocalypse, without people like them, humanity would have no hope at all.

"Still, thank you. My name is Wen Yu."

"Oh, I’m Sun Ruixing. I'm the big boss of a small gathering place in Birch Forest Town. By the way, welcome to Birch Forest Town." Sun Ruixing smiled mysteriously at Wen Yu.

...

"We've arrived." As the convoy entered a complex shantytown, it came to a halt in front of a large courtyard.

Sun Ruixing got out of the truck, and Wen Yu followed him.

"Come on, everyone, get out, we've caught fish!" Sun Ruixing shouted with a wide grin.

A large group of people quickly streamed out of the courtyard, including men, women, and children. Upon seeing Sun Ruixing and the other professionals return, the entire camp erupted in cheers.

"Ruixing is back, and he brought back a big batch of zombies."

"The boss is too strong! We’ll have several new professionals this time."

"Awesome, tell the kitchen to start cooking right away."

Seeing the warm atmosphere of the camp, Wen Yu couldn't help but look at Sun Ruixing with newfound respect.

"Brother Sun, your abilities are impressive."

"Hehe, not at all. I used to drive a big truck. After the apocalypse hit a couple of days ago, many people died, so I gathered the neighbors to kill zombies and survive together. Thankfully, in the countryside, every household has some food reserves, so our hundred or so people won't go hungry," Sun Ruixing said, smiling at Wen Yu.
