The ancient demon naturally had no idea that an unknown existence had leaked all its power. Feeling the mysterious force within itself fading, the ancient demon's combat instincts prompted it to slightly adjust its body, then charge at Wen Yu once again.
Wen Yu had no intention of running anymore. After all, only one of the two creatures on the arena could survive. How long could he keep running?
Although the ancient demon’s body was far better suited for battle than a human’s, the outcome of a fight was never decided solely by size or physique.
Wen Yu neither dodged nor evaded; instead, he charged back at the ancient demon even faster.
Like two high-speed trains crashing head-on, the two combatants collided fiercely.
A cracking sound rang out.
It came from Wen Yu’s body—not bones breaking, but the F-Level Protective Jade he was wearing before the fight.
Both fighters had at least level two strength. Under this power, the Protective Jade could absorb ten hits. This was Wen Yu’s greatest assurance in this brutal close-combat.
And now, nine uses remained.
The ancient demon also suffered. The recoil from the collision was fully absorbed by it, and its two-meter-tall body was blasted backward. Seizing the opportunity, Wen Yu delivered a brutal slash to the ancient demon’s thigh, then wildly pursued the staggered creature.
As the ancient demon landed, Wen Yu immediately closed in, his war blade slashing repeatedly, each blow landing on one of the demon’s right hands.
Although a single strike from the steel blade barely hurt the ancient demon, what about ten strikes? Twenty?
The ancient demon roared in pain as thick, black blood sprayed continuously from its wounded arm.
Another cracking sound was heard. Despite Wen Yu’s caution, the ancient demon’s tail struck him hard.
The tail snapped back, and Wen Yu quickly withdrew, having achieved his goal—severing one of the ancient demon’s arms.
The huge arm separated from the ancient demon’s body. Even though its mind was obliterated, the physical pain made the ancient demon wail miserably.
Seeing the demon’s cries, Wen Yu launched an attack, kicking the half-risen creature to the ground and swinging his steel blade forcefully toward its neck.
Before the blade could connect, the ancient demon snapped back to awareness amid the pain. Its remaining right hand tightly grasped Wen Yu’s war blade, while both left hands and the tail violently battered Wen Yu’s body.
With successive cracking sounds, Wen Yu saw the steel blade deform under the demon’s grip. Quickly, he released the blade, abandoning it to dash toward the first-round reward nearby—something he had originally deemed unnecessary.
In that brief contact, Wen Yu was hit four times. Without the Protective Jade, those four attacks would have gravely injured him.
This was the racial gap—no matter how solid the human body was, it lacked the ancient demon clan’s claws and scales.
Wen Yu picked up the steel blade, and the ancient demon stood up again. In its once cold and ruthless eyes, a clear look of ferocity appeared.
The ancient demon sensed that the human opposite it now posed a lethal threat, and the battle fell into a deadlock once more.
Below the stage, Guan Tao and three others were still admiring Wen Yu’s fight.
To Wen Yu, every contact, every life-or-death clash, looked like a blur to them—no details visible.
“This looks like a win, right?” Wan Ping murmured, seeing the ancient demon missing an arm.
“I don’t understand at all. It’s too fast, really too fast. This guy’s practically cheating. I can’t imagine who could become this strong in such a short time,” Guan Tao said, admiring the figure on the arena.
Admiring the strong was human nature.
“Xiao Ping, when he comes down, let’s ask if we can follow him,” Guan Tao seemed to have made a decision.
“That’s worth trying. What if he agrees? By the way, Brother Tao, your head’s finally working properly for once,” Wan Ping agreed with Guan Tao’s plan. Everyone knew that in dangerous times, if your own strength wasn’t enough, the best strategy was to find someone stronger to rely on.
