Wen Yu stood on the top floor of the apartment building, looking at the corpses scattered all over the ground. He ignored the dirty blood and severed limbs around him, leaning against the railing and gasping for breath.
After saying goodbye to his little neighbor upstairs, Wen Yu frantically cleared out the zombies, starting from the fifth floor, then the sixth, and then the seventh.
There were some scares along the way, but nothing particularly dangerous. After clearing out the seventh floor, he finally accumulated enough points he needed.
"Check points."
"Ding, remaining points 12."
The hard work was worth it. In his previous life, Wen Yu had only managed to gather enough points to become a professional after three months into the apocalypse.
And this time?
It only took a few hours. This was his capital, and Wen Yu understood that becoming stronger first would put him ahead and make him even stronger. Only by doing so could he acquire greater survival capital in the demonic disaster that would begin six months after the apocalypse.
Wen Yu squinted at the quiet city outside and realized for the first time that the apocalypse didn't seem so terrifying to him anymore.
Wen Yu returned to his small rented room on the third floor, quickly ate some food, and lay quietly on the bed to rest for a while.
As the feeling of fatigue gradually faded, Wen Yu picked up his weapon and walked outside.
In the corridor lay several corpses. For the newly mutated zombies, their appearance was not significantly different from that of humans, creating an eerie and terrifying atmosphere throughout the floor.
Wen Yu was already immune to the scene before him. He wouldn't hesitate to charge into a mountain of corpses and a sea of blood, as long as it didn’t pose a threat to his life.
He casually stepped on a corpse's finger bone, then went downstairs and headed toward the outside of the community.
The building where Wen Yu lived was about a hundred meters away from the entrance of the community, a distance that was naturally not considered far in the past.
However, after the apocalypse began, that hundred-meter distance between the community gate and Wen Yu's apartment building was no longer easy to traverse.
Countless severed limbs and blood covered this short path, and there were at least a dozen zombies wandering around, either dining or aimlessly roaming.
Wen Yu silently tightened his grip on the weapon, looking at the stone pillar at the entrance of the community that was emitting a milky white glow, his eyes filled with determination.
That thing was his hope, as well as humanity's hope against mutated beasts and demonic creatures—the Exchange Stone Pillar.
When it came to zombies, Wen Yu naturally wasn’t afraid. Moreover, humans had one powerful weapon compared to zombies—intelligence.
Wen Yu knocked on the corridor door with the spear in his hand. The "clang, clang" sound echoed far away, and the nearest zombies nearby swayed and staggered toward Wen Yu.
Wen Yu waited for the zombies to slowly approach. The crisp sound of impact couldn't be missed by the surrounding zombies. By the time the zombies got closer, Wen Yu was shocked to find that more than ten zombies had gathered at the corridor's entrance.
With a thrust of the spear, Wen Yu could confidently say that as long as he wasn’t surrounded, these low-level creatures were merely mobile points for him.
The continuous thrusts sapped a lot of Wen Yu's stamina, but they also took the lives of several zombies.
As Wen Yu fought while retreating, nearing the fourth floor, the last zombie collapsed in front of him.
"Another ten-plus points." Looking at his rapidly increasing points, Wen Yu couldn’t help but smile.
Stepping through the blood of the corpses, Wen Yu arrived at the corridor entrance once again and noticed that the number of zombies outside had significantly decreased. He grabbed his weapon and quietly charged outside.
The remaining zombies posed little threat to Wen Yu now. As he saw the stone pillar getting closer, Wen Yu grew even more excited.
