When Wen Yu followed Kong Liu to the strategic command center on the third floor, the room was already packed with officers from various departments who had been waiting there for a while.
Kong Liu directly sat down at an empty seat, gesturing for Wen Yu to sit beside him.
Little Snow and the others took their places behind Kong Liu.
Wen Yu glanced around at the military personnel sitting upright and felt the serious atmosphere in the conference room, quickly realizing the topics of discussion to come.
It was surely about whether to fight or retreat, and if they chose to fight, how to proceed. Moreover, from the slightly accelerated heartbeats and somewhat reddened eyes of these soldiers, one could sense that most of them had a certain attitude towards the demonic creatures.
Kong Liu first poured a glass of water for Wen Yu, then picked up a file bag next to him and placed it directly in front of Wen Yu.
“Take a look at this first.”
...
Inside the file bag were only a few simple images of two-legged lizards, along with some textual descriptions.
There wasn't much to say about these; Wen Yu already knew them.
However, the last few documents caught his attention.
They depicted a panoramic view of the demonic city, clearly showing a huge black vortex where the Demon Realm Gate originally stood. Due to the collapse of one Demon Realm Gate, it slightly revealed the blood-red Mini Demon Realm Gate at the center.
Wen Yu elbowed Kong Liu and pointed at the red Demon Realm Gate.
“Those guys with black crystals on their heads!”
With this simple statement, he directly indicated the purpose of the Mini Demon Realm Gate.
Nodding, Wen Yu stared intently at the Mini Demon Realm Gate, lost in thought.
“According to drone observations, that giant snake directly smashed through a Demon Realm Gate, which is how that black vortex appeared. The footage is too distant and somewhat blurry; we don’t know the exact situation,” Kong Liu explained.
Wen Yu observed the black vortex with some confusion.
In the image, a giant two-legged lizard was crawling out from the vortex. It seemed that this creature belonged to the “Demon Realm Gate” of the two-legged lizards.
However, Kong Liu's words puzzled Wen Yu because, in his last life, during the first six months of the demonic disaster, he remembered the Demon Realm Gate being absolutely indestructible!
Even the strongest figure from his last life—Simba—was just lurking beside the Demon Realm Gate to hunt; he had never heard of Simba causing any damage to the Demon Realm Gate, let alone smashing it directly.
Shaking his head slightly, Wen Yu set aside this unresolvable question, quietly picked up his glass of water, and waited in silence.
...
Both Wen Yu and Kong Liu were already among the latecomers.
Yet now they still had to wait for others, and it was needless to say who that person was.
Within ten minutes, the door of the conference room was pulled open, and the familiar figure of Lin Haifeng appeared at the entrance.
Behind him were an elderly man in a white lab coat and a man around thirty years old.
Upon seeing Lin Haifeng, all the military personnel present immediately stood up, saluted crisply, and shouted loudly.
“Hello, Commander!”
Even Wen Yu was pulled up by Kong Liu, awkwardly executing a not-so-standard military salute.
Lin Haifeng did not say anything like “Hello comrades” or “Thank you for your hard work”; he merely waved his hand slightly, indicating everyone to take their seats.
“The one in the white lab coat is Feng Guansheng, the president of the Academy of Sciences, and the one behind him is Wei Tian, the vice president of the Academy of Sciences,” Kong Liu explained.
Hearing Kong Liu’s words, Wen Yu examined the two men behind Lin Haifeng.
Feng Guansheng was nothing special, just a balding old man, but Wei Tian caught Wen Yu’s attention.
Being so young and already a vice president of the Academy of Sciences was enough to prove this guy's capability.
Moreover, Wen Yu had to admit that Wei Tian was better looking than himself.
