Kamen was unsure if this "first" was good or bad. He hesitated for a moment before stepping straight into the tent.
It felt as if he had passed through a layer of water film...
The sudden resistance made Kamen pause briefly, but it was short-lived; as soon as he pressed against the water film with his strength, it immediately parted. Only after fully entering the tent did Kamen turn back.
He saw a shimmering layer of light appear behind him.
"A soundproof barrier, you've seen one before, right?"
A voice suddenly spoke from the front. Kamen stared at the soundproof barrier for a moment, and only after confirming that it was indeed a soundproof barrier did he turn to look at the person sitting in the center of the tent.
The person was of average height, around 1.8 meters tall, with an unremarkable appearance, but there was a blue light in his eyes.
This blue light flickered; as the two locked eyes, Kamen felt a chill run down his spine, as if he were being seen through from the inside out in an instant.
"My name is Luo Ling, belonging to the Beijing Strategic Command Center. By the way, just to mention, I share the same identity as you; we are both humans transformed from the demonic clan."
With that simple sentence, Kamen felt himself relax slightly.
"Sit."
Luo Ling spoke again, gesturing for Kamen to take a seat.
Kamen obediently sat down opposite Luo Ling, and then he saw Luo Ling pick up the tablet on the table and place it in front of him.
"Before we talk, let’s watch this video."
Luo Ling said as he began to play the video.
The video recorded everything Kamen did on the battlefield... especially the part where he let Mr. Winter go.
A simple few minutes had Kamen breaking out in a cold sweat. It wasn’t until the video ended that he took a breath. He looked at Luo Ling, but Luo Ling spoke again.
"So, don’t you want to explain?"
"I..."
Kamen hesitated and opened his mouth, wanting to speak about his past, but Luo Ling smiled and waved his hand, interrupting Kamen's words.
"Alright, alright, I’m just joking. Your past experiences are all on file in Beijing; what happened in the past is behind us. We should look forward, shouldn't we?"
The gentle voice echoed in Kamen’s ears, as if there were a mysterious power soothing his restless heart. Hearing this, he nodded gently, his expression much calmer than before.
"Regarding your release of the demonic clan members, we have no intention of pursuing this matter. You know that countless members of the demonic clan have escaped the main battlefield; it wouldn’t make sense to punish an elite warrior for the sake of two demonic creatures. So you can put your heart at ease."
"I called you here to assign you another task."
Kamen hesitated briefly but still asked, "What task?"
"I need you to go supervise a certain gathering place of the demonic clan. Coincidentally, the two ancient demons you released are also in this gathering place."
Kamen spoke again.
"So, is it to kill them all, or...?"
Though he asked this, Kamen already had a plan in mind.
If the mission order was to kill them all, this time, Kamen would definitely not hold back!
Having pity once was enough... this time, it was to make up for his mistake. If someone had to be blamed, it could only be those two unfortunate lives.
But what Kamen didn’t see was that at this moment, the blue light in Luo Ling’s eyes intensified, as if he could see through all of Kamen's psychological activities. After Kamen finished speaking, Luo Ling smiled and said,
"Not at all... Well, how should I put it? This task is more about supervision, monitoring... you are like an observer, quietly watching the lives of these demonic creatures. You don’t need to intervene in anything until new orders are given."
"So, do you understand?"
Luo Ling’s explanation was simple and clear, and Kamen naturally understood. He nodded lightly, and Luo Ling pointed to the back.
"Then you can exit through the back door. Someone will take you to the task location."
