Demon Realm.
In a hidden cave, Tang Haofei lit a campfire. On the fire, a military portable pot was placed, filled with large chunks of beef and frozen vegetables. Soon, a pot of food that smelled quite decent was freshly cooked.
As he ate simply, Tang Haofei sat in the light, his gaze gradually wandering. Life in the Demon Realm was not as dangerous as he had imagined.
Firstly, Tang Haofei was not in the core area of the Demon Realm; he was in a forgotten place—there were no signs of human life here, so naturally, no one could discover Tang Haofei's whereabouts.
Secondly, with Tang Haofei's strength, the only thing that could be called "dangerous" would probably be if the current ruler of the Demon Realm—the spirit of the demon lord—took action personally.
However, considering the status of the spirit of the demon lord, Tang Haofei was likely just a cockroach in its eyes.
Thus, a strange situation fell upon Tang Haofei.
Hiding in the Demon Realm, he certainly didn't have to worry about food and drink—there were enough basic supplies in the Spatial Ring of the Beijing commander-in-chief to last him over a thousand years. There was no danger, but because of a certain agreement, Tang Haofei had been stuck in this cave for an entire month, bored and suffering through the passage of time.
It was as if he was sealed away...
Thinking of this, Tang Haofei took a deep breath. He turned his head and looked at Bai, who was lying on a straw mat nearby.
After a month, Bai still had not awakened from the deep slumber brought on by his advancement. He lay there motionless, but Tang Haofei could tell that the origin power swirling around Bai was continuously transforming his body.
The metamorphosis was about to be completed, and the entire process was calm and uneventful.
Bai's methods were something both Wen Yu and Tang Haofei admired. Even if he was ascending to level eleven, Bai had sufficient means to ensure his success—there was certainly no danger involved, but this month-long sleep still made Tang Haofei feel quite restless.
With that thought, he took out his communicator and dialed a contact from another world.
"Fran?"
"I'm here. How are things on your end?"
Fran's voice on the other side of the communicator was calm, lacking any hint of panic. Hearing this tone, Tang Haofei immediately felt relieved and smiled as he replied.
"Everything is fine here. How about you?"
"All good. Also, this is the third time you’ve called me today..."
No one could question Tang Haofei's worries about Earth, but after being away for just a month, he had fallen into a chatty state. He couldn't call it annoying, but it was indeed amusing.
Old Tang also realized his current mindset issue and chatted a bit more with Fran about family matters before quickly ending the communication.
Holding the communicator, Tang Haofei sighed lightly. After carefully putting away the device, he looked back at Bai's location, only to see two bright eyes staring at him unblinkingly.
Tang Haofei was momentarily taken aback, then he smiled and spoke.
"Big brother, you've finally woken up."
...
"I've run this process many times, and there’s definitely no danger. The only fear comes from external risks. I apologize for not informing you about the time I needed to sleep, but overall, thank you."
Awakened, Bai held a porcelain bowl, sitting in front of the campfire, scooping beef from the pot. He swallowed large bites, yet his words were clear, and Tang Haofei couldn't help but admire Bai's unique skill.
"Eat slowly, eat slowly."
Old Tang cheerfully placed a piece of beef into Bai's bowl, looking at him with relaxed eyes.
It was as if he had found a pillar of support.
During Bai's slumber in the Demon Realm, Tang Haofei's emotions had fluctuated from tense to relaxed, then to restless. In any case, having witnessed the power of the spirit of the demon lord, Tang Haofei was afraid of attracting its attention.
However, at the moment Bai awoke, Old Tang felt that his hardships had finally paid off—Bai had worked hard in the Demon Realm for an unknown amount of time and had inherited all the legacies and connections from the Immortal Heroic World. Compared to Earth, the Demon Realm felt more like Bai's home ground.
