On the playground, Mr. Winter held Little Winter in his arms while pulling Mrs. Winter along. He glanced around and quickly counted the number of people.
Compared to the last assembly, there were more than a tenth fewer…
In other words, from a total of one thousand people, there were now less than nine hundred present.
There were always some clever individuals who, upon hearing the mobilization order for the zero war, sensed some alarming hidden meanings. They foolishly hid in the tents, intending to escape this disaster like ostriches burying their heads in the sand.
The squad leader stood at the front of the group; he did not meticulously count the numbers—rather, it was expected that a portion of people would flee before the battle.
Although the demonic clan was indeed martial, it was impossible for everyone to be a soldier—every race has its heroes, but it also has its cowards.
In fact, under the mobilization order for the zero war, a squad losing only one-tenth was already a testament to the squad leader's outstanding mobilization abilities.
“Let’s go.”
At this point, there was no need for the squad leader to say any more nonsense. He waved his hand and turned to head toward the Demon Realm Gate.
The Winter family followed at the back of the long line. Perhaps out of concern or sensing the gazes from behind, Mr. Winter suddenly turned around and saw a pair of dark, shining eyes behind a tent.
“I hope you can be safe…”
Instead of cursing those cowards, there was a hint of heartfelt blessing.
He sincerely wished for them to stay away from war and continue their once ordinary, even impoverished lives.
As Mr. Winter thought this, a slight impulse to stay arose within him.
Perhaps hiding in the tent would allow him to escape a calamity?
However, this inner impulse was immediately dispelled as soon as he stepped out of the camp.
Dozens of armored peak level 10 demonic clan warriors stood on either side at the entrance of the camp, exuding a chilling aura as if they were blades of ice! Once the entire group exited the camp, these elite demonic clan members immediately dove back inside, accompanied by the sounds of drawn swords, bone-crushing, and screams…
In a moment, the sounds quieted.
Mr. Winter couldn’t help but shiver. He held Little Winter tightly, and the next second, he seemed to hear the squad leader's calm voice.
“You see, I told them already, there’s a chance of survival after crossing the Demon Realm Gate, but staying here only leads to death. Who can we blame for that?”
Though the tone was calm, Mr. Winter still detected the disdain hidden in the squad leader's words.
Who can we blame…
Mr. Winter raised his head to look at the torn sky of the Demon Realm.
Blame this damned world!
…
In stark contrast to the desolation and heaviness of the Demon Realm, the Zone Seven Main Battlefield on Earth was alive with vibrant scenes.
Of course, this included Fran and Tang Hao, who sealed off the news of Tang Haofei and Wen Yu’s departure—otherwise, the loss of the backbone of the Layered Battlefield would have undoubtedly dealt a devastating blow to the morale at the front lines.
The war mobilization had already been issued, and a large number of soldiers and weapons were transported to the front lines. Even the less critical seventh-level battle zones received significant reinforcements and supplies.
“The great battle is at hand. After thirteen years, the demonic clan is preparing to invade the Layered Battlefield once again. Warriors, grip your swords tightly and display your bravery!”
“Make your mark today!”
Wild shouts echoed throughout the entire forward base, and then the voice from the loudspeaker changed to a sweet female voice.
“The rewards for military achievements are as follows: kill one seventh-level limit breaker demonic creature, reward of a 1000 square meter residential plot behind the Layered Battlefield, 10,000 seventh-level magic crystal vouchers, and one soul armament…”
