In the picture, a root the thickness of a wrist extended from the lower right side of a Demon Realm Gate. Half of it was buried in the soil, making it quite inconspicuous. However, from time to time, a tiny speck of light would emerge from it, carried away by the wind to the distant horizon!
"Where is it?"
"Zone Seven, Demon Realm Gate No. 395, omg, they are using this thing to spread seeds into the Layered Battlefield!"
Qin Shiyuan's sharp voice rang out, and Gul quickly formed a hand seal, stopping the energy output. The images in Qin Shiyuan’s mind dispersed instantly. She sat up abruptly, looking at Arthur and Qin Tian.
"We're in big trouble."
...
"Demon Realm Gate No. 395... This is the real-time footage from there."
In the footage, several oath keepers were shoulder to shoulder, approaching the Demon Realm Gate. They shot down the demonic creatures pouring out from the gate, easily getting within fifty meters of it...
But then, they could no longer proceed.
Near the Demon Realm Gate, there was a Barrier field. The principle behind this had not yet been figured out in Beijing, but the strength of the Barrier was indeed significant— the Demon Realm Gate could not be destroyed, and even with Wen Yu's power, one could barely enter within thirty meters of it...
Wen Yu even suspected that the root technology of the Demon Realm Gate might very well be associated with the Heavenly Gifted Stone.
"No samples needed, use long-range attacks to take that thing down!"
As Wen Yu spoke, several oath keepers immediately launched an attack. These energy attacks were weakened by the Barrier, and when they landed on the root, they had become feeble. Yet, even so, the attacked plant root twitched, and with a "whoosh," it retracted back inside the Demon Realm Gate.
It was not until this moment that Wen Yu closed the live broadcast from the front lines. He sighed, raising his head to look at Tang Hao, Gul, and the others.
"So, you don’t know exactly how many seeds have been sent into the Layered Battlefield by the demonic clan, or even... into the territory of Earth?"
Upon hearing this, the several of them exchanged glances, their expressions grim.
"Gul, you speak."
"Yes, godfather."
"Based on known intelligence and reasonable assumptions, we hypothesize that the demonic clan has been doing this for quite some time. According to Aunt Qin's observations, that plant root can spread about a hundred seeds a day. These seeds drift across the continental plate with the wind, and most will be buried deep underground, losing all trace. However, a small portion will attach themselves to the surfaces of living beings."
"So, they are parasitic?"
"Yes, parasitic..."
At this point, Gul's expression turned somewhat grim.
"These parasitized beings will carry the seeds to various parts of the world. Normally, they won’t exhibit any obvious changes until the moment they are awakened."
"Just tell me approximately how many living beings have been parasitized."
Gul paused for a moment before finally stating a number.
"At least ten thousand."
"Ten thousand..."
Wen Yu stroked his chin, pondering for a moment until Gul spoke again.
"This is just the quantity of the seed of destruction, not counting the number of other seeds."
"Then let's assume one hundred thousand for now..."
"That number seems reasonable."
Gul nodded, agreeing with Wen Yu’s assumption, and then continued.
"We have found the means and locations for the spread of the seed of destruction. It seems that the methods of transmission for other seeds are similar to that of the seed of destruction."
"I have an idea."
"Go ahead."
"We should look for the remaining seeds—this is simple. As long as we pinpoint the other roots appearing at the Demon Realm Gates, we should be able to find un-parasitized seeds nearby. Then, we will parasitize them within a living body, just like Aunt Qin, and use my method to gradually remove these parasitized life forms, thus cleaning up this incident."
The logic was straightforward—merely creating controllable seed hosts and using them to find the wandering seeds.
