“Damn!” Wen Yu said affirmatively.
Such a beneficial opportunity was something Wen Yu had no reason to refuse!
“Look, this is the military's attitude towards powerful lone rangers like you. Normally, there’s no interaction, but when they need you, they issue high-reward missions. This kind of cooperative relationship is what the military desires!”
“You have to understand that for the higher-ups, it’s better to talk things out than to fight. Once you start fighting, there are too many unpredictable factors! If we really anger a super strong individual and they come to hunt our troops every few days, wouldn’t we be in trouble?”
“So, the saying goes, harmony brings wealth!” Jiang Wentao chuckled.
Wen Yu pondered over Jiang Wentao's words and it seemed to make sense.
“What about those guys establishing bases and claiming dominance outside?”
“Those are even easier to deal with. We provide weapons and magic crystals, buy their population—do you think they wouldn’t agree?”
“After all, for those local tyrants, ordinary people might be a burden, but in the military's hands, they’re completely different!”
“If a gathering place loses its population, can it still be called a gathering place? Once the population drops to a certain level, their big boss won’t even be considered a force anymore, at most just the captain of a battle team. By that time, if they need something they’re lacking, let’s see what price they’ll pay—just look at the lone ranger!”
Jiang Wentao looked at Wen Yu with a smile, but his words made Wen Yu feel as if he was touching a whole new world.
This world was one where brains mattered more than brawn!
Using transactions, wealth, and exploiting human greed and selfishness to directly undermine the roots of a power!
And without bloodshed!
“What if there’s a force that is very strong, strong enough to the point that even the military is wary of it?”
Wen Yu simply wanted to see the military's stance towards people like him who drifted outside the system.
“Then that’s a good thing!” Jiang Wentao said with certainty, and he was extremely serious!
“The military values facts! The high-ranking officers in the army never believe that they can end this apocalypse on their own, especially knowing that humanity's greatest enemy has yet to appear. The emergence of a powerful force not only alleviates pressure on the military but also adds an extra layer of security for humanity’s survival!”
“The military, especially our current leader, Lin Haifeng, sees things from a different perspective than we do. Commander Lin considers these issues from the standpoint of all humanity.”
“In fact, I admire Commander Lin. He always has a saying on his lips.”
“When the skin is gone, where will the hair attach?”
“When every human in the world is dead, who will this commander of Huaxia's five major military districts be showing off to?”
Wen Yu mulled over the phrase “when the skin is gone, where will the hair attach?” and shook his head after a moment.
Discussing the entire humanity was too big of a topic for Wen Yu; he simply wanted to survive well in the apocalypse.
“By the way, are you really not considering joining the military?” Jiang Wentao probed again.
“I’ll consider it when the opportunity arises. For now, let’s forget about it!” Wen Yu replied with a smile.
“Hmm, I estimate that within a few days, the military should be able to capture Beijing City. When there’s a chance, you can come find me in Beijing City as a friend!”
Wen Yu nodded.
“By the way, how do you know all this? Aren’t you just a foot soldier?”
Upon hearing Wen Yu’s question, Jiang Wentao simply smiled and didn’t answer, but the monkey behind him interjected.
“The captain is not just a foot soldier; he used to be from our country’s most mysterious special forces, executing missions that even involved infiltration and intelligence. How could someone who’s a super soldier, even more special than an agent, not understand these things?”
