Doomsday Summoning Frenzy

Chapter 1186: The Grand Scene of Beijing (Part One) 🌆

Wen Yu turned his gaze towards Long Er.

The man wore a gray-green military uniform, standing nearly two meters tall. He was strong and robust, but his facial features were well-defined, with a naive expression that exuded an air of loyalty and reliability.

As Li Quan'an finished his introduction, Long Er immediately stood at attention and saluted Wen Yu.

"Commander-in-chief's personal guard... Deputy Captain, Long Er, at your service, Your Excellency!"

His dignified demeanor left Wen Yu unable to find any fault, but he keenly sensed the sorrow reflected in Long Er's eyes.

Long Er had been a personal guard under Lin Haifeng since before the apocalypse, following Lin Haifeng for decades. However, at the start of the plan, he was reassigned to the front lines — Long Er's feelings about Lin Haifeng's demise were understandable.

Even more tragic was that in just three months, Long Er had already changed "masters" twice — it was needless to say that this had also occurred when Fang Yuqiong assumed office.

For a personal guard captain, losing his superior while still serving as someone else's personal guard was an insult!

Wen Yu could understand Long Er's feelings. If Long Er had proactively requested to resign from the deputy captain position, Wen Yu would have agreed — he didn't really need a personal guard. But unexpectedly, Long Er just stood silently by the side.

It wasn't until Li Quan'an made an explanation that things changed.

"Your Excellency, this guy doesn't trust me."

"Oh?"

Wen Yu raised an eyebrow and looked at Long Er, until Long Er stepped forward and said loudly to Wen Yu,

"Report, Commander, appointing a cannibal as the personal guard captain is an irrational act. For those in high positions, one should prioritize their own safety. I request that the commander revoke Li Quan'an's position as personal guard captain."

Wen Yu couldn't help but chuckle, and Li Quan'an looked helpless. Long Er's words were not without merit; it seemed that Long Er's reluctance to retire was largely due to Li Quan'an.

He truly was an honest person.

Wen Yu smiled and shook his head, brushing off the matter, then issued a new order to the two of them.

"Let's do it this way: Li Quan'an will continue to command the cannibals, and as for Long Er, you will handle the personal guard outside of the cannibals. The defense of this residence will be managed by you."

"Yes, Commander."

Seeing that his proposal bore no fruit, Long Er didn't pursue it further. He simply saluted to Wen Yu and then stepped back behind Li Quan'an.

Decades of military life had ingrained certain things in Long Er's bones.

"Now, let me see how much Lin Haifeng has left behind."

Wen Yu rubbed his hands, signaling for Li Quan'an and Long Er to retrieve the confidential documents and personnel files from Beijing. He wanted to take a good inventory of how much wealth Lin Haifeng had left him!

...

Li Quan'an and Long Er left and returned in less than ten minutes.

The two stood in front of Wen Yu, rummaging through their Spatial Rings. Before long, a pile of documents of various sizes were stacked on the coffee table before Wen Yu.

The confidential documents from Beijing, of course, were not limited to these items. But Li Quan'an, being exceptionally shrewd, understood what Wen Yu wanted to see, so after picking and choosing, he only brought back a small fraction.

Wen Yu reached out and picked up one of the documents, titled "Inventory of Basic Supplies in Beijing."

It was an account book. Wen Yu quickly flipped through a few pages and compared it with his own assets, only to be surprised to find that the existing supplies in Beijing were indeed much greater than his own.

There was about a fivefold difference — magic crystals, food, war equipment, various construction materials, and consumables.

What Wen Yu had, or more accurately, what the mountain puppets had accumulated in the Main City of the Layered Battlefield, Beijing had as well. Yet many items were ones Wen Yu had not prepared.
