When Wen Yu and Bai stepped out of the secret chamber, they arrived in the grand hall where Ye Nan was located. Ye Nan's gaze, filled with surprise, was directed at the black crystal on Wen Yu's forehead.
Although his appearance had not changed at all, this single crystal clearly marked a distinction in races—Wen Yu was undeniably a demonic entity... or perhaps a hybrid of demonic and human? That could be referred to as a mixed breed.
This self-deprecating thought only served to highlight the bitterness within Wen Yu. If it weren't necessary, he truly did not want to take this step.
“Did you succeed?”
Wen Yu merely nodded silently. The feeling wasn't exactly pleasant; even though he had mentally prepared himself, there was still a sense of betrayal. The most important aspect was the pervasive sense of familiarity from the Demon Realm, a feeling that was even more comforting and peaceful than what Earth had once given him.
Thus, his previous dilemma regarding his stance seemed to have become more complicated. Fortunately, the impending life-and-death crisis had been resolved, and temporarily staying in the Demon Realm meant he didn't have to face the sovereign's threat directly.
The goal had been achieved, but it truly came with both gains and losses...
...
Within the grand hall, there were only Wen Yu, Bai, and Ye Nan. Ye Nan's Avengers had already left, presumably to deal with the residual issues of the Second City in the Desolate Borderlands.
Bai's instruction for Wen Yu to eliminate the city lord of the Second City in the Desolate Borderlands was not without reason. They may have obstructed the expansion of Leogua's influence. However, these details were not important. Wen Yu allowed Bai to have his own thoughts regarding this matter—after all, everyone was merely using each other.
Once Wen Yu gradually adapted to the existence of the black crystal on his forehead, Bai finally taught him some tricks—how to conceal the black crystal on his forehead.
The principle was almost trivial; it involved controlling the contractions of the muscles and bones to hide the black crystal. Furthermore, the black crystal itself didn’t emanate any additional aura or energy fluctuations. As long as its exterior was concealed, everything would seem the same as before.
Wen Yu conducted a simple experiment and quickly mastered this technique. When he hid the crystal within his skull, he looked in the mirror; Wen Yu now appeared exactly as he had a few hours earlier, aside from a faint, obscure aura.
That aura belonged to the demonic clan.
However, with the Heaven-Covering Robe, Wen Yu had no worries about exposing any flaws. Moreover, he was no longer merely a demonic creature—his connection to the origin power of the Immortal Heroic World still existed, and he still belonged to the divine beast species of that world. The origin power of Earth also remained, marking him as an Earthling. The newly added Demon Realm origin power had altered his identity, but it wouldn't have too much of an impact—the origin power was simply a form of strength, which did not differentiate between good and evil or allegiance.
Thus, the skill issue that had once troubled Wen Yu—World’s Avenger (race foundation level, passive skill)—showed no reactions to his changes. Even the Shard of the Heart of the World within his body remained unchanged.
They were just tools and skills...
...
“However, there are negative impacts, such as the treasure land and the Exchange Stone Pillar...”
Seeing Wen Yu lost in thought, Bai explained some of his own experiences.
“As a member of the demonic clan, even if just a hybrid, the treasure land and Exchange Stone Pillar cannot be opened to you. However, the impact of these two things on you is minimal. The Exchange Stone Pillar won’t produce anything good; it’s a pity about the treasure land, but I guess you wouldn’t want to venture into it after offending the sovereign, right?”
Let alone whether he had become a member of the demonic clan, just after Wen Yu had eliminated Lindsay, the treasure land had already become inaccessible to him—after all, it was the core control area of the sovereign. Any treasure land capable of producing useful items for Wen Yu would undoubtedly have a treasure land guardian stationed there. Only a fool would try to enter such a place.
