Sure enough, Bai just shook his head.
“The first theory might be true, but I think it’s highly likely just nonsense. Although no world has ever escaped the clutches of the demonic clan, the sovereign is indeed not standing on the side of the invaded world, but the two are in cahoots... This argument still doesn’t hold water.”
“In comparison, I think the second theory makes more sense. The demonic clan has means to restrain the sovereign. No, that’s not quite right. Let me explain the immortal emperor’s initial deduction.”
“For a long time, we believed that the practitioner system originated from the sovereign... but the demonic clan is indeed an anomaly. They possess the power of practitioners and can even use certain tools to some extent. They exist between practitioners and mutated beings, but in essence, they are not fundamentally different from practitioners.”
“Previously, the immortal emperor made a hypothesis—what if this practitioner system and the Exchange Stone Pillar are actually an unknown existence that is above both the sovereign and the demon lord? It has no consciousness, no concept of good and evil, just a super tool, where the sovereign holds most of the authority over this super tool, and the demon lord holds only a small portion. This could explain why the demonic clan, despite being under the practitioner system, is not restricted by the sovereign.”
“Because the sovereign cannot reach the demonic clan, since this is the demon lord’s territory—a super powerhouse that also possesses authority over the practitioner system... and this should be the root of the opposition between the demon lord and the sovereign.”
Hearing Bai's explanation, Wen Yu pondered for a moment but still shook his head.
“It should be incorrect. It’s not about the earlier part, but concerning the opposition between the sovereign and the demon lord. The purpose of the demonic clan is very straightforward; they need origin power. After arriving in the Demon Realm, I realized their reason for needing origin power is quite simple—to extend the life of their own world.”
The Demon Realm is on the brink of collapse, and the origin power is the core strength of a world and shares the same nature. Using the origin power of other worlds to sustain the world will of their own world—let alone the demonic clan; if such a situation were to arise, no one would sacrifice themselves for others. Even if Wen Yu encountered such a dire situation, he would probably immediately think of ways to harm other worlds.
This is the instinct embedded in the genes of living beings for the continuation of their race and the propagation of life!
Of course, this doesn’t mean Wen Yu wants to exonerate the demonic clan. The positions of both sides are inherently opposed, and there’s no way to justify that. However, when it comes to who is right or wrong... that leads to philosophical questions.
These matters cannot be divided into right or wrong; it’s only about perspectives.
Faced with Wen Yu’s rebuttal, Bai merely shrugged. “These are just the immortal emperor’s judgments; I don’t know if they are right or wrong. But let’s return to the topic, to this alchemical formula.”
At this point, Bai shook the test tube. The three crystals within, nurtured by Wen Yu’s blood, had already fused more than halfway—primarily with the Fragment of the Heart of the Demon Realm. With the fusion at this level, Wen Yu could see that the final product would likely be exactly like the black crystal atop the head of the demonic entity.
“What does this indicate?”
“It merely confirms the previous point—being able to fuse with each other proves they belong to the same origin. The immortal emperor’s previous works also confirmed the effectiveness of this thing; it can indeed allow any creature—not just practitioners—to break free from the control of the sovereign. However, there’s another problem here.”
Bai’s tone was filled with helplessness, which made Wen Yu’s heart sink.
