Chapter: Duality
Ye Zhongming was unaware that the commotion he had caused had stirred the entire Blue Secret Realm. Externally, he appeared calm with his eyes closed, but internally, he was quite distressed.
The Bone Pearl Ring and the purple crystal ball were continuously enhancing each other, consuming his mental energy. At first, the rate at which his mental energy was being absorbed was alarmingly rapid; Ye Zhongming felt that he would be drained dry within two minutes.
However, it was uncertain whether it was due to the crystal approaching saturation, but the absorption rate began to slow down. Now, although mental energy continued to flow into the crystal, it was at least comparable to the rate at which Ye Zhongming could recover it on his own.
Of course, this was thanks to Ye Zhongming possessing the great thousand soul refining technique and the Mental Energy Recovery Necklace, along with various equipment and similar skills. Otherwise, if it were anyone else, even such a rate of absorption would be unbearable.
Below, King Zun, the Guardian of the Sacred Pool, and the clan elders were sweating profusely, unsure whether to interrupt Ye Zhongming or what to do. They swore by the almighty god that they had never encountered, nor even heard of, such a thing.
Fortunately, the beam of light shooting into the sky from the purple crystal, which the posthumous children called the almighty god's magic orb, gradually faded away. An unknown force descended upon the crystal, causing it to emit not only the milky white glow that Ye Zhongming had activated earlier but also to be enveloped in a layer of brown light sand.
This crystal ball had been stored in the Temple of Dawn for countless years without any change. Now, with such a transformation, no one could explain it clearly; they could only watch and wait for the outcome...
The absorption rate of mental energy weakened once more. Ye Zhongming knew it was about time to stop, but he didn’t dare to let go just yet. Since the situation had reached this point, he had to hold on until the end to see what kind of changes this object would undergo.
Outside the city, the three giants of the Temple of Dawn looked somber as they watched the light beam gradually fade. The commander of the temple guards, Rong Zhi, remained silent, but his expression was somewhat grim.
They didn't know what it was, but that didn’t prevent them from linking the new King Zun's ascension to this destructive energy, which made their hearts sink.
Could it be that the posthumous children truly had some hidden trump card to turn the tide? Was the rumor that their Royal City would never fall more than just a rumor, but rather a reality with some extraordinary means?
This time, the victory achieved by the Temple of Dawn was monumental. In the past, they had never forced the entire posthumous population into a tiny city, regardless of quality. Just in terms of numbers, before attacking the Royal City, they had already far surpassed any previous occasion, with rivers of blood and mountains of corpses left in their wake.
Even in terms of quality, they had impressive achievements to present. Without mentioning the two King Zuns, they had destroyed no less than ten large tribes!
These were the core forces of the posthumous children.
Now that such results were achieved, would there still be unexpected occurrences?
Moreover, while others might be unaware, Rong Zhi and the others were acutely aware that although the victories were significant, the Temple of Dawn had also committed its entire force. Almost all organized troops within their territory had entered the posthumous lands to fight, with a massive logistics operation consuming vast amounts of resources every moment.
Given the Temple of Dawn’s wealth, this was a deployment of resources accumulated over many years. If they were to fail, it wouldn't simply be a setback; it would lead to serious repercussions.
Even in the worst-case scenario, the balance of power between them and the posthumous children could be reversed.
