Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 929: Baal Potion 🧪

Published: February 10, 2025

As Ye Zhongming and Xia Lei rushed back, there was a new development in the mutant legion's assault on Cloud Summit.

They no longer divided into two parts but instead rejoined as one, launching a fierce attack on the walls of Cloud Summit.

This was undoubtedly the best strategy for them at the moment.

For the human warriors who were behind and could only hit and run, the mutant legion had few options. If they sent fewer after them, they would be picked off by the humans; if they sent too many, they couldn’t keep up with the speed of the fleeing humans.

In just a few hours, the human casualties were minimal, but the mutant legion faced significant losses, only slightly less than those of the front-line assault team that had been attacking the city.

If this continued, wouldn’t they be defeated one by one by the humans?

The three-trunked elephant, now the sole core of the mutant legion, immediately changed its tactics and prepared to launch a final assault on Cloud Summit Villa.

With this change, the humans no longer felt relaxed; they had to confront the mutant legion head-on.

Even with the significant reduction in their numbers after so many days of attrition, the remaining mutants still numbered in the millions, far outnumbering the human warriors.

Little Tiger and others, forced to attack the rear of the mutant legion, could no longer employ flexible tactics; it had become a life-for-life battle, which caused immense headaches for every core member of Cloud Summit.

The only bit of good news was that the deaths of several eighth-level lives made the mutant legion less manageable, causing many mutants to flee the battlefield.

Of course, in comparison to their overall numbers, this was still not much, but it did alleviate some pressure on the humans.

However, the bitter struggle continued.

"Who knows how long the villa can hold out," Park Soo-young said beside Little Tiger, her face filled with deep concern.

When Ye Zhongming left earlier, he had instructed the rear team to withdraw from the battlefield promptly. However, upon seeing the entire mutant legion starting to assault the city, the rear team was once again forced to fight these pesky things.

Everyone understood Cloud Summit's elite strategy, and naturally, they knew what sacrifice meant; their faces were all grave.

"Several sections of the wall have already breached; they probably can’t hold out for long. We can only try to relieve their pressure as much as possible!"

Little Tiger, covered in blood—some of it his own—had just been ambushed by a sixth-level mutant snake, which had bitten a deep wound into his left abdomen. He could only retreat and let Park Soo-young treat him.

Now everyone knew that the outcome was imminent; the key lay in how long Cloud Summit Villa could hold out. If it collapsed while the mutant legion still had a million members, it would mean disaster. If they could hold on a bit longer and reduce the mutant numbers, there might be a glimmer of hope.

Both sides were now locked in a battle to the death, with no idea how many lives were lost each second. Perhaps in a few hours, the combined numbers of both sides, which exceeded one and a half million, would be reduced to a million or even less.

"Mm?"

Little Tiger, who had wanted to say something, suddenly heard shouting from outside. It was different from the roars of battle; it was a shout filled with excitement and joy.

Little Tiger and Park Soo-young exchanged glances, both recognizing the joy in each other's eyes. They quickly ran over and saw Ye Zhongming and Xia Lei leading a team appearing at the back of the line.

They were naturally happy to see each other, but Little Tiger and the others looked even more delighted at the sight of the Yama Tree.

"So much food, so much food~~”

The Yama Tree kept chanting, causing a twenty-meter radius around it to be empty. Everyone was unsure if it was referring to the mutant legion or the humans as food.

"Let’s save the other discussions for later; right now, we need to deal with these mutant life forms."
