Doomsday Roulette

Chapter 92: Perilous Situations Ahead ⚠️

Published: February 5, 2025

The second-level mutated life had developed a rudimentary intelligence, especially in hunting, showing its innate cunning.

Suddenly, the forelimbs of this second-level mutated long-legged spider hit the ceiling, producing a loud thud.

Ye Zhongming cursed under his breath, as the sound immediately turned the zombies around, who discovered the fresh human nearby and charged at him with outstretched claws.

Even though he was immune to the zombie virus, Ye Zhongming dared not let the zombies bite him. He could only use both his knife and shield to kill them.

Ye Zhongming's speed was impressively fast, taking down four or five zombies in just a few seconds. His movements were smooth and fluid, showing no signs of hesitation.

However, the mutated long-legged spider above would not miss such an opportunity. It seized the moment and suddenly opened its evolved, four-petal mouth wide, releasing a mass of white silk that covered a large area, enough to envelop several shelves.

The silk and poison were the innate abilities of the mutated long-legged spider, but this web-slinging was clearly a talent skill.

"Spider Silk Binding!" Ye Zhongming recalled the name of this talent skill.

The massive net fell from the ceiling, and although there were shelves above him, if Ye Zhongming did not dodge, the net would trap him between two shelves, making him a sitting duck.

In a moment of crisis, Ye Zhongming kicked over a shelf in front of him, causing it to topple like a domino, knocking down several shelves in front until it was stopped by a load-bearing column.

Taking advantage of this, Ye Zhongming swiftly dashed forward. At the edge, just as he thought he couldn't escape, he suddenly swung his knife with all his strength!

“Aura of Full Power!”

A silver light erupted from the edge of the moon, slicing directly into the massive web. The resilient and highly adhesive white net was cut open at the edges, and Ye Zhongming quickly jumped through the gap.

This sticky web was hard to shake off once it adhered to clothes or skin, and it was covered in neurotoxin that would rapidly weaken a person and dull their senses. Even Ye Zhongming did not dare to be careless.

Seeing the human evade its killing move, the mutated long-legged spider hissed and suddenly descended, connected to the ceiling by a white silk thread, lowering itself like an elevator to the ground.

With its two claws, it pierced through several wandering zombies that lacked awareness. The spider's sharp forelimbs tapped against its compound eyes, shaking off the filthy blood and producing a metallic clanging sound, indicating its sharpness.

Ye Zhongming chose not to escape at this moment. He was wary of the spider's talent skill, which it had already used; thus, it could not deploy it again for the time being. It was now his turn to attack.

With his left hand slightly lowered, the arm shield came to hand. Ye Zhongming swiftly charged out, releasing the arm shield as he did so, smashing it directly into the spider's compound eyes with a force that seemed to rip through the air.

The mutated long-legged spider did not expect this human to take the initiative to attack, much less throw the shield. By the time it tried to dodge, it was already too late and could only cross its two forelimbs in front of its eyes.

With a clang, the arm shield was knocked away, crashing through the ceiling and creating a large hole.

The mutated long-legged spider was pushed back by the force, and just as it tried to lower its forelimbs to counterattack, it found that the human had already charged right in front of it, swinging that silver knife!

It was this very knife that had sliced through its web earlier, and the spider was well aware of it, feeling a deep sense of dread. Its six hind legs flexed and extended as it leaped up to the ceiling, revealing a nail-sized eye on its pale abdomen, from which a silk thread shot out, instantly reaching Ye Zhongming.

Ye Zhongming smirked, thinking to himself that he had been waiting for this move. At that moment, a box of breakfast pastries suddenly appeared in his previously empty hand. The spider's silk struck it with a bang, and as the silk recoiled, the box of pastries was pulled away.
