Netherworld Mine, a name that echoed loudly in the surroundings, once an abandoned mine, was now occupied by a suddenly rising power. Anyone and any organization daring to provoke this force faced annihilation overnight.
However, on this day, those passing by could see a team entering the Netherworld Mine, followed by cries of agony and a thick scent of blood wafting out from within.
Xia Lei appeared somewhat disheveled, but anyone could tell that her disarray was merely a result of a fierce battle. Her spirit, however, was in a state of unusual exhilaration.
In front of her knelt twelve individuals, the twelve leaders of the Netherworld Mine. Surrounding them were countless corpses, numbering in the thousands. In the distance, some people huddled in corners, trembling in fear.
Those corpses were the source of the intense blood scent.
“Tell me what I want to know, and I’ll let you go,” Xia Lei said softly, patting the cheek of the first person.
“Tell me, who gave you the information about our exact route?” Xia Lei squinted, crouching before him. “Who ordered you to follow us and monitor our movements?”
The man raised his eyes to look at Xia Lei, snorted coldly, and said nothing.
Xia Lei pouted, reached out, and touched the man's ear, then suddenly yanked it off with force. Blood immediately streamed down into the man's collar.
The man, wanting to scream in horror, could only produce muffled sounds because Xia Lei had stuffed his own ear into his mouth!
“Swallow it,” Xia Lei said quietly.
The man desperately tried to spit it out; despite being a killer, he had no interest in eating his own ear.
At that moment, Xia Lei suddenly pressed his mouth shut, gripping his chin, forcing him to swallow his own ear.
The other kneeling individuals were twitching in terror, all bowing their heads, unwilling to witness this horrifying scene.
The man's eyes turned red with rage as he glared at Xia Lei, wishing he could devour her.
“Very angry?” Xia Lei's smile gradually faded, replaced by a slightly twisted expression of anger. Her voice sharpened, “You’re angry? Right now Cloud Summit is surrounded by countless monsters, and my people could die in droves. Shouldn’t I be angry?! The villa might have already been breached, should I not be angry?! When Zhong Ming left, he entrusted Cloud Summit to me, and now I might lose it. How do I explain this to my man?! Shouldn’t I be angry?!”
As the words escalated, Xia Lei lost her composure. Park Soo-young, watching her from the side, looked pained and wanted to reach out and pull Xia Lei back, but was stopped by a glance from the latter.
Teacher Park knew that Sister Lei was truly in a rage, even aware that deep down, she was scared—scared that this incident would cause Zhong Ming to harbor resentment against her, even abandon her. For Xia Lei, who had a similar past, this was her inner demon.
Though it wasn’t Xia Lei’s fault that time.
“Tell me the answer?” Xia Lei cooled down a bit, looking at the man.
The man had some backbone. Thinking of his underage son back at headquarters, he lowered his head. Though frightened, he still chose not to divulge anything. Between himself and his son, he opted for his son to survive.
Xia Lei nodded and reached out to grip the man’s throat, crushing it mercilessly.
Next, she approached the second man and asked the same question.
The man hesitated slightly, but Xia Lei directly stabbed his eyes, then ended his life amidst the man’s shattered nerves.
Then came the third, fourth...
After all twelve had turned into corpses, Xia Lei pulled out a silk handkerchief to wipe her hands, which were smeared with blood and human tissue.
She still didn’t know the answer.
Although the others spoke freely, it was clear they followed the first man's orders. The most useful information resided in that man’s head.
The only information Xia Lei obtained was that this force was backed by an organization hostile to Cloud Summit, but they had no knowledge of what that organization was called or who their contact was.
