Ye Zhongming forced himself to suppress the thought of continuing to forge. He knew that the value of Ghost Gold was not obviously reflected in him as an apprentice craftsman. Without better materials and blueprints, he couldn't truly exploit the full advantages of Ghost Gold, so continuing to forge now would be a waste.
Of course, he also didn’t have any Grade 2 Magic Crystals on hand.
After carrying his twin knives back to the temporary shelter, the three women, who had already become somewhat immune to Ye Zhongming’s miracles, only felt a bit curious. They glanced at the new knives and then quickly withdrew their gazes. On the other hand, Xia Lei and Little Tiger were somewhat taken aback.
The Edge of the Moon was not just a short dagger; it was more than one meter long when including the handle, making it hard to miss. How could the man come back with two knives when he had left with just one?
They had all witnessed the power of the previous Edge of the Moon, especially Xia Lei, who was an expert with knives. She had studied under a Northern-style knife master right after graduating from the police academy, and she knew well what constituted a good knife. She could be certain that this knife was the best she had ever seen.
Seeing another knife like this left her more surprised than anyone else.
Little Tiger, not being particularly astute, had some reservations about Ye Zhongming after the death of his brother Jackie Chan, but he understood it was a world where anyone could die at any moment, and one had to choose between life and death. After a few days, those grievances had faded, and upon seeing Ye Zhongming return with a new knife, he naturally moved closer.
“Hey, got another knife? Let me see it.”
As he spoke, he reached out to grab it, moving with precision and incredible speed.
Ye Zhongming’s eyes blurred; his body shifted to the side, and just before Little Tiger’s fingers touched the knife handle, he dodged and said, “Want to see the knife? Sure, let’s see if you can take it.”
Little Tiger, who was already testing the waters, was delighted by this response. He grinned and said, “You said it, so don’t blame me for bullying a sick person later.”
With that, he thrust his left leg forward to block Ye Zhongming’s escape route, while his right elbow shot upwards, aimed directly at Ye Zhongming’s chin. If that hit, it would likely be a knockout.
Seeing Little Tiger's clean and decisive moves, Ye Zhongming felt invigorated. He placed a hand under his chin while bending his knee, forcefully pressing down on Little Tiger's leg.
The hard elbow struck his palm, firmly caught by his fingers, and with one leg pinned, Ye Zhongming found it hard to move. Little Tiger remained calm under pressure, using the pinned leg as a pivot to twist his body and throw a punch.
However, suddenly, Little Tiger felt his body loosen, causing his pivot to become unstable, and he began to lose his balance. Yet, as a soldier trained rigorously, he took a deep breath and managed to regain his composure. His fist veered slightly but was ready to continue the attack.
But he paused, for Ye Zhongming had already disappeared from his line of sight. In the next moment, Little Tiger felt a gentle push on his back, straightening his somewhat twisted body.
Little Tiger let his fist drop in defeat; he knew he had lost. If that push had been a strike, he would have been dead.
“I’m not as strong or fast as you; that’s unfair.” Little Tiger protested, believing that the disparity in physical abilities was due to the difference between him and an evolver.
Ye Zhongming quite liked the enthusiasm and personality of this young man. He patted his shoulder and replied, “There’s no fairness in this world. Whoever is strong sets the rules. Besides, even if you were an evolver, you still wouldn’t be my match.”
Little Tiger stubbornly replied, “I don’t believe it.”
“When you strike with the intent to subdue your opponent rather than to kill, that’s when you’ll be qualified to contend with me.”
