The conference room was filled with a strange scent, a unique aroma that could only be produced by a blend of high-end tobacco and alcohol.
In the large conference room, there were only eight people.
They were the leaders of the four major resistance zones in China.
True leaders!
The core leaders of the C, G, S, and T resistance zones, each ranking as the top two decision-makers in their respective areas.
They controlled perhaps the most powerful force in this land during the apocalypse.
However, among these people, there was one exception.
“Xinfey, is Uncle Mu’s injury that serious? He can’t even attend the joint meeting?”
At the inner side of the round table, a middle-aged man with a rosy face stroked his bald head and asked with a strong voice.
The other attendees remained expressionless, but their attention was focused on this question, which was also what they wanted to know.
It had been over a year since the apocalypse began, and everywhere people had noticed that both zombies and mutated plants and animals were evolving at an accelerated speed.
Some proposed the term “evolutionary tide,” which gained widespread recognition.
The rapid evolution of mutated life meant a further reduction of human living space and a rapid deterioration of the living environment.
In this context, the upcoming Peak Pass meeting was particularly important, which is why even the commanders from the G1 and G2 resistance zones, who were nearly a month’s journey away, had come.
Previously, they had only sent their deputies to attend, participating in video conferences during key discussions. This demonstrated the significance they placed on this meeting.
However, in such a grand environment, the absence of the commander-in-chief of the S1 resistance zone and the presence of his daughter at the meeting was… somewhat intriguing.
The number one figure in each resistance zone was the strongest, and the commander-in-chief was undoubtedly the core. If something were to happen to this core, stability in the resistance zone would be unlikely.
Thinking about the territory controlled by the S1 resistance zone and the resources it possessed, the other leaders had their own thoughts.
For the C2 resistance zone, which bordered the S1 territory, if something were to happen to the latter, they would undoubtedly have the advantage of proximity. Therefore, as the commander of the C2 resistance zone, Anfu was the most proactive in asking.
“My father is well, but he is recovering from serious injuries, and traveling is always arduous. As his daughter, it is my responsibility to help him bear some of the burden, don’t you think so, Uncle An?”
Mu Xinfey smiled, but deep in her eyes, there was a trace of barely perceptible vigilance. She felt an inexplicable sense of alienation towards these people and this room, and even though she had developed a slight alcohol dependency, the familiar scent made her feel a bit nauseous.
If possible, she would rather face a foul-smelling monster than engage in cutthroat competition with these people here.
“Indeed, my dear niece is filial, but this meeting is of great significance, concerning many matters that could determine the future of humanity. With Uncle Mu absent, it will be difficult for us to proceed.”
Mu Xinfey scoffed inwardly, but still maintained a smiling face as she responded, “We can just have a video call with my father later; he can greet all the uncles as well.”
Upon hearing Mu Xinfey say this, the thoughts of others faded a little. Since a video call was possible, even if he hadn’t fully recovered, it shouldn’t be too serious.
“Alright, let’s get to the main topic. Continuing from yesterday, the first item is the plan proposed by the C zone to establish the C4 resistance zone. Is it reasonable? What is the feasibility? Once established, can everyone provide a certain level of funding? The second item is regarding the Iron Giant, which has attacked several resistance zone bases; is it time to eliminate it?”
